Position Overview
The VP of Finance leads the strategic direction and execution of the organization’s financial functions. This includes overseeing financial planning, reporting, and compliance while managing a high-performing finance and accounting team. The VP collaborates with senior leadership to ensure alignment of financial goals with overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Build and manage an “A”-caliber Finance and Accounting organization.
- Oversee controllers, accounting, finance, and FP&A personnel.
- Develop and maintain clear succession plans and IDPs (Individual Development Plans) for team members.
- Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
- Oversee coordination with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Risk Management
- Identify and evaluate financial risks (market, credit, operational).
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and implement internal controls.
- Provide guidance on insurance coverage to protect company assets.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management.
- Optimize banking relationships and financing arrangements.
- Implement cash management strategies to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Advise the President and executive team on financial strategy and business growth opportunities.
- Align financial initiatives with organizational goals and KPIs.
- Drive financial performance through strategic planning and analysis.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial models.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and cost-saving measures.
- Provide insights on capital allocation and resource optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Proven leadership experience as a VP of Finance or similar senior finance role.
- Expertise in financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams.
