Job Description:

Position Summary: The Head of Identity & Access Management (IAM) Strategy & Planning is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive IAM strategy within the organization. This position focuses on planning and overseeing large-scale, multi-year control adoption programs, particularly within the financial sector, to ensure robust security measures and compliance with regulatory standards. The role also encompasses budget and headcount management to effectively allocate resources and build a high-performing IAM team. 

Key Responsibilities: 

IAM specific experience: 

  • Experience leading large transformational programs in IAM ideally in large financial firms.
  • Understanding of developing and driving IAM control adoption with influence  
  • Experience developing dashboarding and progress reporting that builds momentum 
  • Deep understanding of IAM controls and applying them across platforms and applications in an enterprise 

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop and implement a forward-looking IAM strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. 
  • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale, multi-year IAM control adoption programs, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals. 

Program Management: 

  • Experience with implementation, and management of IAM frameworks, including policies, standards, and procedures. 
  • Ensure IAM solutions meet security and business objectives by establishing metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). 
  • Manage budgets and forecasts related to IAM initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. 
  • Oversee headcount management, including hiring, training, and retaining IAM professionals to build a high-performing team. 

Risk Management and Compliance: 

  • Ensure IAM programs comply with organizational and regulatory requirements. 
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of IAM programs to identify and mitigate risks. 
  • Coordinate internal and external audit-related tasks to facilitate timely resolution of audit findings. 

Stakeholder Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, audit, compliance, legal, and other stakeholders to define access policies, user roles, and access control procedures. 
  • Advise clients in assessing security requirements and controls to ensure security and compliance controls are implemented as planned. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Manage and mentor a team of IAM professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. 
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team. 

Qualifications: 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IAM or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven experience in executing large-scale, multi-year IAM control adoption programs within the financial sector. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing IAM strategies and frameworks. 
  • Experience in budget and headcount management, with a track record of effectively allocating resources and building high-performing teams.

Certifications: 

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) are highly desirable. 

Skills: 

  • Deep understanding of IAM fundamentals, including role-based access control, single sign-on, and identity federation. 
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the financial services industry. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to IAM, such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, or GDPR. 
  • Experience with cloud-based IAM solutions and services. 

The base salary range for this position is $124,000-$262,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
