ROLE TITLE: VP, Content Marketing

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

The VP, Content Marketing will shape Teach For America’s national brand narrative, content and campaign strategy to inspire and drive action among our audiences. This role will craft a compelling storytelling strategy elevating Teach For America’s brand perception as a category leader, while aligning with brand values and business objectives. The VP will lead cross-functional teams to execute multi-season strategies. We are looking for a strategic and creative thinker with a strong and measurably impactful background in content, brand, and campaign management; and someone with a reputation for being an exceptionally insightful, articulate, and authentic relationship builder. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

Content 

  • Lead the development of creative content formats that captivate our audiences, push the storytelling boundaries of traditional content marketing, and align with business goal – as shown through  measurement and optimization plan 

  • Develop content for various channels including short-form editorial content, blogs, and other long-form content for interactive campaigns.

  • Oversee social media strategy across content, platforms, and KPIs 

  • Partner with VP of Marketing, and oversee ad copy and brand positioning for digital marketing campaigns. 

  • Manage an organization-wide content calendar and create a system for identifying what content should be created, co-created, or curated; and how/when to responsibly integrate AI

  • Oversee development and execution of marketing campaigns, ensuring content excellence, messaging coherence, and alignment with brand, organization, and audience goals 

  • Partner with the Communications Team to align content marketing and earned media efforts and build a donated media program, meeting brand goals and achieving brand consistency. 

  • Partner with the Creative Director to provide inspiration and leadership for copywriters and designers

Campaigns/Brand 

  • Lead executive-level collaboration, evolve the brand’s position while shaping long-term priorities and immediate market activation plans to support business goals 

  • Steward internal and external brand alignment 

  • Lead initiatives to strengthen brand recognition and reputation 

  • Develop owned go-to-market strategy for new product/programs in partnership with other senior leaders on Marketing 

  • Lead the organization’s event and campaign strategy to tell a connected and compelling story that advances our business goals 

  • Partner closely with the Development team to understand and lead team members toward driving donor engagement and meeting fundraising goals 

Team Leadership 

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of strategists, writers, and social media directors, providing professional development and guidance to direct reports and helixed teammates

YOUR EXPERIENCE 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in brand strategy, content development, or related fields. Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Skilled storyteller, writer, and creative with an outstanding portfolio of work with a measurable impact.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-platform content strategy. 

  • Deep understanding of content marketing analytics and proven experience assessing ROI of content strategy and optimizing based on data. 

  • Proven experience in developing and executing measurably successful national marketing campaigns.

  • Expertise in audience segmentation and brand positioning. 

  • Ability to integrate creative strategy with performance metrics and business goals.

  • Excellent creative judgment and strategic thinking skills. 

  • Strong cross-functional collaborator, able to work across teams and influence outcomes. 

  • Expertise in social media management, demonstrated experience leading multi-channel social strategy, and deep understanding of emerging content trends. 

  • Experience overseeing media planning and buying. 

  • Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of excellence and champion break through creative work, raising the bar for performance and helping others succeed.

  • Persuasiveness and confidence to get others to buy into big ideas. 

  • Minimum of 5 years people management experience, with demonstrated experience nurturing talent at multiple levels.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM 

The Marketing team develops Teach For America’s brand identity, steers its creative execution, and promotes the brand and TFA programs to target audiences through integrated campaigns.

COMPENSATION 

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.  The expected salary range for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Tier A:  $152,500 - $196,700

  • Tier B:  $166,300 - $214,400

  • Tier C:  $180,000 - $232,000
