Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Radio Technical Support workforce that is able to accomplish its assigned duties and respond to no-notice situations in order to sustain the customer's mission and its processes. Will minimize the customer's equipment downtime, taking into consideration the circumstances/characteristics of the equipment defect or damage. Will be customer service oriented and respond to the needs of the customer and other contractors.
Contractor, Engineering and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) staff will work alongside division staff to modernize the RF over Fiber DAS in place today to a supported and future ready platform.
The selected candidate will travel to locations across the US and provide technical support of the voice and data communication equipment located in vehicles and or fixed installations on buildings, structures, towers, mountain tops, and at times, temporary installations. Provide customer service to agency representatives staffing these locations and mitigate user experience matters to improve the use of the provided technology to support agency missions. Operate the required hand tools, power tools, test equipment, programming devices, key fill devices and similar hardware to complete work that supports devices and equipment deployed. Staff shall have experience traveling throughout the United States (US) and be familiar with navigating airports, coordinating
lodging, vehicle travel, staying on-time to arrive with scheduled visits, and overall achievement of expected operations to install, maintain, improve or restore voice and data communication equipment.
This position is located in Washington, DC. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington DC or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Associate degree and at least 2 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation and support (additional years of experience may be substituted for the degree)
Ability to pass US Capitol Police Background Check
Experience deploying hardware from transit case and verifying RF coverage created once equipment is online
Experience servicing handheld and mobile radios located within a team while following the groups schedule and time available
Experience shipping tools and similar logistics materials to be successful at accomplishing the tasks and actions required
At least 5 years of experience with Land Mobile Radio DAS
At least 2 years of experience with FiberSpan brand LMR DAS products
An accredited DAS certification (ETA or BICSI acceptable)
Experience with any the following:
Training on Anritsu/Aeroflex/Tektronic/General Dynamics/Bird Technologies
RF power meters/in-line fixed value attenuation/IP-Protocol controlled Variable Gain Array devices/Linear wideband RF amplifiers/low-noise mid-gain RF signal amplifiers
Installation of foam and air dielectric coaxial cable connectors
Linux OS and syntax
Concept/designing/installing multi-leg antenna systems using Commscope/Andrews Heliax transmission line and accessories as primary signal carrier
Andrews/RFS Radiating cable systems
Motorola Customer Programming Software
AC/DC power supply systems to include battery backup topologies
Ability to navigate the DC/MD/VA area while transporting devices/materials
Strong troubleshooting and problem isolation techniques for solving complex troubles with telecommunication equipment, circuits, channels, and trunk troubles
Considerable knowledge base of secure communications instruments, MB lines, T-1 primary rate interfaces
Capable of performing essential technical maintenance activities and telecommunications equipment installations, de-installations IAW applicable published standards with minimal guidance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with any of the following Motorola Base Station equipment:
Experience using test equipment such as O-scope, Fireberd, and transmission test sets
Familiarity with patch panels
Ability to be self-reliant
Ability to professionally interact with high level civilian officials on a daily basis
Quality assurance experience with both new and upgraded telecommunications systems
Trainer / training experience
Positive service-oriented attitude
Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment
Familiarity with Motorola portable and mobile radio accessories and how they work in unison with the devices
Familiarity with Motorola trunked digital radio operation with focus on affiliation process, devices operation
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $85549 - $136879
