We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Venture Capital Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will be central to our day-to-day financial operations of both our firm and funds. You’ll work closely with the Controller, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to maintain best-in-class financial practices and support our broader team’s strategic initiatives.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Accounting Support

  • Own the monthly and year-end close processes for the firm, including:

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Journal entries for revenue, prepayments, accruals, and payroll

  • Chargeback allocations for expenses attributable to the funds

  • Support annual audit and tax processes

Financial Recordkeeping & Expense Management

  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes

  • Ensure accurate accounting records and proper approval chains are followed

  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and employees

  • Create invoices and lead collection efforts in coordination with the broader team

  • Lead vendor management and the annual 1099 process

  • Administer and maintain the employee expense system and ensure timely expense submissions, review and escalations

  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of all expenses

Budget Tracking & Project Spend

  • Support firm’s budget process including budget tracking for events and special projects, and also for departmental spend across the firm

  • Prepare and review monthly budget variances

Payroll Execution & Benefits Support

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll

  • Process and track 401(k) contributions

Fund Accounting Support

  • Execute chargeback allocations and coordinate reporting with fund administrator

  • Review financials for accuracy for quarterly and annual reporting

  • Support capital call tracking and AR follow-up

  • Assist with valuation updates

  • Assist with ad-hoc LP queries such as audit confirmation requests

What You’ll Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience (venture capital, private equity, fund admin, or public accounting)

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and reporting standards

  • CPA or additional certification is a plus

  • Strong understanding of AP/AR, general ledger, and financial reporting

  • Hands on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and expense systems (e.g., Emburse, Bill.com)

  • Advanced excel skills

  • Familiarity with venture fund accounting and fund administration platforms is a plus

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude

  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Proactive thinker interested in executing process improvements and gaining efficiencies

  • Experience and/or willingness to implement AI to enhance workflows

  • Ability and willingness to take on ad-hoc finance / operational tasks and projects
