Collectibles Specialist, Part Time (Remote)

Who We Are

Enservio provides services that help adjusters and claims professionals solve one of the biggest issues in property insurance – quantifying and valuing what’s inside a policyholder’s home. We minimize back and forth with our customer by providing them the most accurate settlement reports to aid in their Content Claim process.

The Role

Enservio is looking for an Collectibles Specialist to appraise unique items in the mid-range value falling under the broad category of collectibles, ie. sports memorabilia, comic books, stamps, signed books, dolls, etc. A willingness to flex to assist other departments such as Furniture and Clothing is a bonus. You would primarily research the retail replacement value of items for insurance purposes. Many assignments require the Specialist to identify additional details for the Claim Manager or Specialist to obtain prior to valuation. You must be confident in your research and willing to defend your findings if called into question. No prior insurance experience is required, but you will need to gain an understanding of the insurance claims process and become well versed in our SaaS platform, Contents Express, to effectively serve our customers. The role requires collaboration with your fellow Specialists and other individuals within the Enservio organization.

What You’ll Do

Appraise Collectibles for replacement value

Leave polished notes, as appropriate, supporting research and findings

Reach out to Claims Managers and/or policyholders to obtain additional details as needed

Manage all tasks and actions necessary to complete a successful appraisal assignment

Log time for customer billing and utilization tracking and be mindful of budgeting

Collaborate with your peers for research assistance and review purposes

Respond appropriately and professionally to both internal and external stakeholders

Be prepared to defend your work

What You’ll Bring

5+ years’ relevant work experience working with collectibles, for a dealer, auction house, appraisal firm, etc.

Bachelors or Graduate Studies in a related field

Professional appraisal certification a plus

Research skills – knowledge of available collectibles resources and on-line pricing databases; a passion for tracking down information

Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, while maintaining a strong attention to detail

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Effective time management

Ability to take direction, as well as feedback, and work independently

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
