The Opportunity
We believe that creating seamless customer experiences starts with deeply understanding our users. At Root, our UX Research team plays a central role in amplifying the Voice of the Customer to inform product strategy and design decisions.
Root’s 11-week UX Research Internship offers the chance to work on meaningful research initiatives that directly shape how we serve our customers. Interns will team up with experienced UX Researchers, Designers, and Product Managers to dive into customer feedback, uncover insights, and help translate them into actionable recommendations. We’re eager to find passionate aspiring researchers who are curious, empathetic, and excited to make an impact through research.

Salary Range: $23 - $35/hr
Internship Dates: June 2026 – August 2026

How You Will Make an Impact
- Partner on Voice of Customer initiatives, synthesizing customer feedback into clear insights.
- Help compile and publish Root’s Quarterly Customer Report, highlighting key themes and opportunities.
- Design and support research studies such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing to inform product discovery and design.
- Build and maintain a UX Research Repository to centralize and organize insights.
- Collaborate with designers and product teams on special projects to inform product discovery and improve user experiences.
- Share research findings with cross-functional partners to support decision-making and customer-centered design.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Design, or a related field, ideally with an anticipated graduation date between late 2026 and late 2027.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UX research methods and human-centered design processes.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, and communication skills, with the ability to turn data into compelling stories.
- Curiosity and empathy, with a passion for understanding customer needs and behaviors.
- Attention to detail and an ownership mentality in your work.
