Patient Solutions is an evolving and highly important area for the success of Pfizer Specialty Care (SC). Due to the complexity of the patient journey in many specialty care therapeutic areas, up to 50% of specialty medications never get dispensed after an HCP writes the script. The role of the Patient Solutions and Engagement (PSE) team is to simplify a patient's path from diagnosis through treatment , doing so by educating patients about disease area & Pfizer medications, partnering to accelerate time to treatment, and championing the voice of the patient.
Reporting to the SC PSE Lead, the Patient Solutions Strategy Lead is a Specialty Care enterprise-focused role responsible for defining and driving the strategic roadmap of SCPSE's model, positioning Pfizer as a definite leader in specialty patient support over the next two years. Providing subject matter expertise and strategies in compliant ways to simplify patient and customer experience in SC while ensuring the nuances of each therapeutic area, he/she will be a key member of the US SCPSE leadership team.
Working closely with the Patient Solutions leadership, the SC Patient Services (PPS) Lead, and marketing, the Strategy Lead will lead the short-mid term strategy for how the Patient Solutions teams, HUB, SPP & digital enablement come together to ensure that patients who need Pfizer's specialty medicines can access and sustain their therapy.
Leveraging external and competitive insights and trends, the role will bring actionable insights to ensure we are proactively evolving to meet the needs of patients & customers. In so doing he/she will partner to support seamless execution across all parts of patient support services. ROLE RESPONSIBILITES
Strategy, Vision & Transformation
- Own and advance the strategic roadmap for PSE - translating a SC Patient Solutions vision into phased plans, resource cases, and measurable milestones.
- Partner with PSE LT to define and advance teams vision, strategy, and competitive positioning.
- Develop the multi-year operating model strategy - encompassing field force design, territory deployment, NBA integration, and digital-physical channel orchestration.
- Lead the SC Patient Solutions BAT in partnership with PSE Enablement Lead, ensuring cross-functional understanding and activation against priority strategies.
Competitive Intelligence & External Landscape
- Assess the external landscape across patient support, access strategy, and HCP engagement & deliver actionable insights on emerging trends, competitive activity, regulatory developments, and payer dynamics in Rare Disease and I&I.
Digital, AI & Technology Strategy
- Partner with Enablement, Pfizer Digital and PPS to develop AI/digital roadmap aligned with operating model roadmap & capabilities e.g. intelligent case management, predictive modelling, and FRM decision-support.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technology platforms through- closely monitoring vendors and emerging solutions with GAV/Digital functional teams.
Patient Outcomes, Analytics & Measurement
- Own the SCPSE performance framework, ensuring pull-through & accountability of leading indicators (e.g. time-to-therapy, paid fulfillment rate, NTB conversion) and lagging outcomes (e.g. persistence), working with IIS, Enablement & PPS leads.
- Identify KPI evolution aligned with operating model roadmap & brand strategies.
Cross-functional Leadership & Brand Partnership
- Act as a key partner to brand teams for full understanding of brand trends, patient access needs, and SCPSE strategy - including PSAC coordination between PS, PPS and brand team.
- Drive connectivity across SCPSE and partnering functions to ensure alignment of patient needs across the full journey - with a focus on seamless experience across all SC TA's.
- Partner with Patient Services leaders in the access and reimbursement space to represent and advance Pfizer's interest and expertise externally.
- Function as a key enabler in building a strong SCPSE enterprise culture - partnering with PX, marketing, legal and compliance, and commercial colleagues to ensure the function's value, mission, and vision are understood and activated.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong understanding of US Patient Solutions Space - both Access & Reimbursement, Patient Engagement and Advocacy
- 12+ years' pharmaceutical industry experience with recent patient support experience and a BA degree
- Demonstrated track record of leading transformation agendas in patient support, commercial operations, or market access - with evidence of moving from vision to measurable outcomes.
- Working knowledge of AI/digital enablement in patient services - eg. NBA tools, CRM platforms, automated PA workflows. Strategic literacy required; deep technical expertise is not.
- Experience developing outcomes-based performance frameworks and presenting them with credibility to senior leadership.
- Familiarity with the hub services landscape - including insourcing/outsourcing considerations, specialty pharmacy dynamics, and vendor partnership models.
- Proven record of challenging the status quo in best interest of patients (while ensuring 100% compliance).
- Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrix environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally in the patient support space, with demonstrated ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strategic mindset with past example(s) of strategy contributions.
- Must be able to both drive strategy and execute with speed and high quality.
