The Unitrends Consultant will provide part-time support for backup and disaster recovery, focusing on implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Unitrends solutions.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Unitrends Consultant to provide part-time, on-demand support for our backup and disaster recovery environment. This role involves assisting with setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Unitrends solutions to ensure robust data protection and efficient system performance. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Unitrends products and a flexible schedule to support project-based or as-needed tasks.
Key Responsibilities

Implementation and Configuration
- Assist with the setup and configuration of Unitrends backup appliances and software.
- Design and implement backup strategies tailored to organizational needs.
- Configure retention policies, replication settings, and disaster recovery options.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Monitor and troubleshoot Unitrends backup systems to ensure smooth operation.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to backup failures, storage, and performance.
- Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades as needed.

Optimization and Best Practices
- Analyze existing backup and disaster recovery setups for performance improvements.
- Recommend and implement best practices to optimize storage utilization and recovery times.

Training and Documentation
- Provide training and guidance to internal IT teams on Unitrends system usage and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for backup configurations, processes, and procedures.

Disaster Recovery Support
- Assist in testing and refining disaster recovery plans.
- Provide support during disaster recovery drills or real incidents to ensure data restoration.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with Unitrends backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong understanding of backup strategies, data replication, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Familiarity with storage solutions, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud integrations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Unitrends Certified Professional (UCP) or equivalent experience.
- Certifications in related technologies, such as VMware, Microsoft, or storage solutions.
