Our Newest Opportunity: 

Prospective Risk Management LLC (PRM) is a specialty healthcare underwriting firm headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Serving clients nationally through a virtual-team platform, we offer healthcare risk-assessment services, underwriting,

performance reporting, and actuarial oversight to Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) using best-in-class actuarial tools and processes.

We are seeking an experienced, health-underwriting operations consultant to complement our seasoned PEO-underwriting team. The Underwriting Operations Consultant will be responsible for ensuring efficient and consistent

underwriting processes within the health-underwriting team. Responsibilities include process improvement, report generation and review, overseeing production, monitoring sales escalations and quote declinations, accuracy testing,

performance input, documenting operating procedures, training, evaluating data across multiple systems, and supporting supervisory staff in the management of underwriting analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learning all current processes and technologies that support health underwriting
  • Monitoring each underwriter against performance metrics for the team and refining the metrics over time
  • Identifying opportunities to address performance variances by specific underwriters
  • Working in tandem with supervisor and senior manager in using data to improve underwriter performance
  • Generating routine reporting on team production and quote details
  • Evaluating end-to-end workflow to identify areas where processes can be simplified and expedited
  • Monitoring the reasons for sales escalations of quotes to determine trends and opportunities to address underwriter performance
  • Identifying broad opportunities to reduce quote time, improve consistency, improve accuracy, reduce unnecessary declinations, and reduce unnecessary escalations from sales
  • Assisting with introducing new technologies and workflows to address evolving needs of the business
  • Evaluating workflow associated with new technologies, developing plans for simplifying new processes, and assisting in training and implementing improvements
  • Participating with supervisors and senior manager in ongoing meetings on performance and team objectives
  • Providing summarized report data with key findings to inform supervisors and senior manager of team performance
  • Making recommendations to improve quality of the entire underwriting process
  • Providing supervisors and senior manager with performance results by underwriter to support performance reviews and staff-development discussions
  • Communicating to supervisors and senior manager when problems are discovered that affect daily processes and working with team for resolution.
  • Evaluating production capabilities and suggesting efficient ways to balance workload and provide production back up when underwriters are on PTO
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation of Standard Operating Procedures for the underwriting team
  • Maintaining and fostering an ongoing attitude of continuous process improvement within the department

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced, virtual-team environment
  • Strong business communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes
  • Ability to learn multiple reporting tools, generate reports, and evaluate data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to translate data into action steps and process improvement
  • Ability to document workflows clearly and simply
  • Ability to train others effectively on work processes

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Senior-level health-underwriting experience required
  • Working knowledge of employer-based, large-group benefits required
  • Underwriting-process or personnel-management experience preferred
  • Experience working within the PEO industry preferred

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $110,000 to $120,000 per year.

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs.
