Investment Management middle office UI Developer has a combination of experience in technical, investment, and people skills working in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment. Both emotional intelligence and the ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively are key to success. Candidate must have a strong background in UI development skills including Angular, Jenkins, and AWS to solve a variety of investment business needs in both on-premises and cloud environments. Additionally, it is preferred that the candidate has robust experience in DevOps migration to production processes, cloud platforms, and system architectures along with wireframing experience to support enhancements to screens. Position is for a team member to support a key transformation effort involving the processing of data to be used by quantitative business analysts. Efforts includes analysis, design, development, testing, migration to production, application support, and documentation.
The position requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently or in collaboration, exceptional communication skills, and knowledge of and/or the aptitude to learn the investment management data domain to successfully deliver UI application code.
The Opportunity
An UI Lead Developer is in charge of designing, implementing and maintaining the information technology systems for an organization. Their duties include designing complex UI screens, developing REST APIs and overseeing the work of other UI developers.
The Team
The UI Lead Developer is a key member of the Market Risk project team, responsible for application development and maintenance, supporting Investment Management (IM). This role supports strategic investment initiatives within the Market Risk and ensures recommended solutions are aligned with business and MassMutual IT strategies while adhering to relevant technology standards.
This role leverages problem solving and software engineering skills to design technical solutions related to data management and system integration challenges and contributes to troubleshooting efforts across multiple functional areas including General Investment Accounts, Separate Investment Accounts, Securities & various technology platforms supporting Investments.
The Impact:

  • As part of a technical team working with business analysts and various development team members, provide UI design and application code delivery for a major transformational program for initial release and subsequent UI application support and enhancements.
  • Contribute to and review estimates for development and testing work.
  • Understand the project architecture and translate into efficient designs that are scalable, maintainable, and re-usable, ensuring that designs and code are aligned with business and technical strategy for supportability and reuse.
  • Perform impact analysis on various proposed technical solutions related to both new and existing screens.
  • Ensure entry and updating of JIRA stories and related agile activities.
  • Participate / lead UI development efforts as part of a team or individually as well as collaborate with other project team development members such as SQL database server and ETL processing.
  • Participate in / lead design review sessions.
  • Contribute to and review test strategy and test plans.
  • Develop unit tests for all screens developed.
  • Work with and assist testers to quickly resolve defects.
  • Accountable for documentation of the UI technical design based on the functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Establish and approve best practices and standards with respect to design and development.
  • Review and provide input to the project plan during the effort.


The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, engineering or related technical field
  • 8+ Years of experience with designing and implementing UI applications within an Angular framework along with code migration to production, production support, and enhancements.
  • 5+ Years of experience with Angular, Jenkins, Docker, HTML 5.0, and REST API integration.
  • 2+ Years of experience with Jira and Confluence and familiar with standards for Git


The Ideal Qualifications

  • Ability to support enhancements to UI screen wireframes in Adobe XD and/or FIGMA.
  • Strong knowledge of Authentication and Authorization
  • Hands on experience in a JIRA Agile development environment with supporting stories and related task development and estimation along with Agile ceremonies
  • Knowledge of investment data and/or financial data
  • Strong understanding and adherence to IT SDLC and operational best practices
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment including employees, vendors, and third-party contractors.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Ability to apply technical and business knowledge across multiple business functions.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with project/program managers, business analysts, business users, developers, and testers to optimize the quality of the developed product.
  • Skilled in interacting with both onshore and offshore team members.
  • Ability to effectively capture development tasks and estimate the time to complete the tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to simplify complex topics for a wide range of audiences (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work through complex issues, identify themes, and develop solutions, in time-critical situations.
  • Ability to support UI production application weekdays and an occasional weekend.
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of business processes and functional requirements and the skill to be able to translate those requirements into succinct functional / technical design specifications and development tasks in JIRA with subsequent unit test creation and execution to successfully meet acceptance criteria and documenting the results while providing close oversight of specifications and results.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and platforms.
  • Ability to adhere to project schedules and meet deadlines in the execution of job responsibilities.
