Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. The Art and Design team at Red 6 defines systems to see and interpret the world around us. These systems synthesize and visualize synthetic reality into a hive mind of real-world knowledge. We are engineering, high performing and highly advanced augmented reality platforms and infrastructure, which support our military partners’ operations. This enables us to collaborate and train with the world’s most advanced military systems and develop our soldiers’ capabilities as the world’s most important line of defense.

The Role

As a UI Designer at Red 6, you will be responsible for concepting, creating, maintaining, and developing our user interfaces, defining the customer journey, and solving usability and experience challenges for government and commercial customers. You will take directions from our UI/UX Design Leads to create stunning, intuitive interface concepts and designs, and solve unique problems in a visual creative way.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience working in Art and Design, UI/UX, computer animation, psychology and human factors, or related field within a previous job, college or university setting.

  • Ability to communicate across departments and teams, clearly and concisely.

  • Be a great team player, experience in working with agile teams and the ability to collaborate with our UX designers.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience with tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Unreal or Unity Game Engine, or similar.

  • Experience of 4+ with Adobe Creative Cloud software suite (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects skills are a must have skill).

  • Demonstrable UI design skills across various platforms from touch screens to VR headsets.

  • Ability to craft design documentation for developers and designers alike.

  • Ability to incorporate feedback and take direction well.

  • Competence in basic project management and task breakdowns, and the ability to take ownership of tasks.

  • The ability to undertake and deliver to project deadlines.

  • Be open to receiving objective criticism and improving upon it.

  • Strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating current and previous UI work.

  • Applicants must be able to complete a small UI design project showcasing their skills as part of the application process.

  • This position may require a security clearance. To obtain clearance, employees must show proof of US Citizenship.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience with mobile application design, VR/XR, and web development pipelines.

  • Experience and demonstrative of creating game HUDs, UI design and UI graphics.

  • Experience with Lottie, Rive or After Effects.

  • Rapid prototyping capabilities.
