Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Third-Party Operational Resilience Manager to lead and manage the processes for assessing and enhancing the operational resilience of Wise's material third-party service providers globally. This role is crucial in safeguarding our operations by ensuring that our partners can withstand, adapt to, and recover from disruptive events, thereby protecting our customers, employees, and reputation.

You will collaborate extensively with procurement, legal, risk, compliance, and various business and technology teams to integrate third-party resilience into our vendor management lifecycle, from due diligence through ongoing monitoring and exit strategies.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Operational Resilience and Third Party Risk Management teams in the first line: 

  • Framework Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve Wise's global framework for assessing and managing the operational resilience of third parties, aligned with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.

  • Due Diligence: Lead the operational resilience due diligence process for new and existing critical third parties, evaluating their capabilities to deliver services resiliently, including their business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident management plans.

  • Contractual Requirements: Work with legal and procurement teams to ensure robust operational resilience clauses are embedded in third-party contracts, including clear expectations for performance, testing, and reporting.

  • Ongoing Monitoring: Establish and manage a program for the ongoing monitoring of third-party operational resilience, including regular reviews of performance, incident reporting, and control effectiveness.

  • Testing & Assurance: Develop and oversee a testing program for critical third-party services, including tabletop exercises, scenario-based testing, and coordination with Wise's internal BCP/DR testing efforts.

  • Remediation & Improvement: Identify and track remediation actions for any resilience gaps identified in third-party assessments or tests, working collaboratively with vendors and internal stakeholders to drive improvements.

  • Incident Management Support: Support the incident management team during third-party related disruptions, ensuring timely communication, effective response, and post-incident review to capture lessons learned.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with global regulatory requirements pertaining to third-party risk and operational resilience (e.g., DORA, EBA Guidelines, OCC, FCA, MAS), ensuring Wise's program remains compliant.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business owners, technology teams, risk functions, and external third-party partners to foster a collaborative approach to resilience.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on the status, risks, and effectiveness of the third-party operational resilience program to senior management and relevant governance committees.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in third-party risk management, operational resilience, business continuity, or a related field.

  • Demonstrable experience in assessing, managing, and enhancing the operational resilience capabilities of external vendors, ideally within financial services or a regulated technology environment.

  • Solid understanding of relevant global regulations and guidelines concerning third-party risk and operational resilience.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex risks and propose practical solutions

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, global environment.

  • Willing to travel, as Wise offices are located across different countries; and

  • Legally authorized to work in the the UK
