The Therapeutic After School Program (TASP) Staff is a member of the after school, vacation and summer programs. TASP Staff are responsible for providing a productive, interactive and safe environment for youth served. This position requires engaging with children through the following: planning, organizing, and leading therapeutic activities, collaborating with teammates regarding daily structure, and working with multi-disciplinary team members to create a safe and therapeutic milieu environment. TASP Staff members provide transportation for youth in our care via program vehicles. TASP Staff are responsible for providing the highest quality of care by implementing a nurturing, caring, safe and structured environment for children to thrive and succeed.

This is a part-time role with full-time responsibilities at certain times of the year. The Therapeutic After School Program is held Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm, Monday-Friday during the school year (20 hours per week) and 8am-4pm during school and summer vacation (40 hours per week).

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title, but additional responsibilities may be required. Employees are expected to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Qualifications

Programming:

  • Assisting children with homework, life skills, mentoring, emotional support, on and off campus recreational activities  
  • Responsible for creating and participating in daily program schedule of activities, adapting as needed.
  • Direct supervision and management of children at all times, in accordance with IHC Policy
  • Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the children/clients
  • Provide and ensuring a safe and caring environment. Follow all safety and reporting procedures
  • Provide behavioral and physical intervention in line with agency training and philosophy
  • Responsible for cleanliness and appearance of the afterschool space and van
  • Transport clients to and from the Program and to off campus activities using company vehicles
  • Work collaboratively with others through professional interactions with coworkers, children and families

 

Administration:

  • Complete serious incident and restraint reports as required, follow protocols to inform the Director of Therapeutic After School Program
  • Responsible for completing daily behavior reports                                          
  • Ensure efficient and timely recordkeeping, e.g. attendance and other necessary documentation
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely

Qualifications:

  • Valid US Driver's License REQUIRED
  • Prior experience working with children, families, and teachers required
  • Ability to understand and implement agency treatment philosophy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent and strong attention to detail and accuracy; superior organizational skills
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment: internet, e-mail, Microsoft Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Confidence and comfort in responding to emergency situations quickly and safely; able to perform in a stressful and fast paced environment 
  • Discretion regarding confidentiality of clients/their histories, families, and co-workers
  • Strong ability to model, teach and support
  • Flexibility in action, thinking and scheduling
  • Strong ability to accept and give critical feedback       
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to bend, reach, stand, and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience

The hourly wage for this role is $21 per hour USD. This number does not reflect additional compensation-related benefits such as PTO, medical and life insurance, EAP, and the Italian Home for Children 403(b) retirement plan. Some of these benefits may not be available to part-time employees, please ask your recruiter for more information.
