Our client is a global Private Equity firm based in Boston. The firm invests in all types of private equity funds, including venture capital and leveraged buyout funds in addition to directly in operating companies.

The Role
The Director of Data Engineering will own the strategy, execution, and evolution of our client's private equity data platform. This is a leadership role responsible for defining the technical vision, building and scaling high impact data systems, and leading a team that directly supports investment, fund, and portfolio decision making. The Director will be accountable for platform outcomes end to end, that is, architecture, delivery, reliability, and adoption, while remaining close enough to the technology to guide critical design decisions and ensure engineering excellence in a fast moving investment environment.
What you Bring
- Demonstrated success leading data engineering and analytics teams, with accountability for delivering production‑grade platforms and data products at scale.
- Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and technical leads, establish guidelines, and raise the overall engineering bar across an organization.
- Experience overseeing the delivery of data‑centric and FinTech applications, including data pipelines, testing, deployment, and operational readiness, rather than solely individual contribution.
- Strong technical foundation enabling effective architectural decision‑making and providing technical mentorship across modern data stacks (e.g., cloud data platforms, orchestration, analytics layers).
- Experience working within agile or scrum‑based SDLC environments, with the judgment to adapt process to the needs of the business.
- Background in Private Equity, Investment Management, Consulting, or Financial Services, with an appreciation for the pace and impact expectations of investment teams.
- Proficiency in Snowflake, Python, DBT, Dagster, Azure - especially Data Factory and Pipelines, and Power BI.
Your Qualifications
- 8+ Years of Data Engineering and software delivery experience preferred
- 3-5 Years of Technical Project Leadership experience
- Experience partnering directly with investment, finance, and operations teams
- Experience in quantitative equity and private equity is ideal.
