THE ROLE: Copy Manager – Product Content

The Copy Manager - Product Content is responsible for all copywriting, editing and content management of our existing portfolio at multiple touchpoints. This role supports our packaging redesign workstream, working iteratively throughout the development and production process to bring our products into the future.

This includes partnering closely with Brand Strategy, Insights, Scientific Affairs and Regulatory Affairs to strengthen our communication on pack and in supporting materials. In collaboration with Creative Leadership and Brand Strategy, the Copy Manager role is responsible for the development and deployment of messaging hierarchy across the product packaging experience driving decision making, timelines, and overall delivery of projects on-brief and on-time.

This role reports to the Editorial Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Expand label copy into supporting communications for OLLY.com and all online retailers, utilizing channel best practices and optimizing for search
  • Write and edit long-form educational blog articles including product deep dives, scientific overviews
  • End-to-end management and ongoing maintenance of Label Specification Documents, Digital Copy Library & Messaging Guardrails databases, including document creation
  • Responsible for proofreading, reviewing and approving mechanical files for print for labels and retailer displays
  • Attend weekly project status meetings, representing the Creative Dept and serving as a decision-maker Copywriter and Copyeditor
  • Work cross-functionally with the eCom, Regulatory Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and Brand Strategy teams to ensure on-pack and supporting digital product copy is clear, concise and delightfully disruptive
  • Problem-solve communication challenges (both internal and consumer-facing) and help OLLY break through barriers to understanding the VMS category

THE CANDIDATE : You’re a product copywriter with heart, hustle, and seriously good taste.
You know how to make product copy shine well beyond the product label. You’ve got game in the physical and the digital. The spreadsheet and the art file. The store display and the Amazon tile. You’re proactive, resourceful, and relationship-driven, with a knack for collaborating across teams and turning feedback into your creative fuel. You believe that no task is too small, no idea is too precious, and no problem is unsolvable.

You're energized by purpose, grounded in craft, and always looking for ways to make the work—and the people around you—better. You’ve got an eye for detail, a bias for action, and a mindset that’s more “we got this” than “that’s not my job.”

If you're looking for a role where your voice is heard, your impact is real, and no two days are the same, we’d love to meet you.

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 5 to 7 years of technical writing, product writing, or UX writing experience at agencies or in-house teams
  • Impeccable attention to detail, especially when working in Excel and Powerpoint
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple workstreams with varying levels of priority & urgency
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter… with support, of course
  • Comfortable learning (or already fluent in) platforms for project management (Wrike) and content (Figma)
  • Deep understanding of English grammar and AP Style. Copy Guidelines provided.
  • A strong copy POV and the ability to flex across brand, packaging, and campaign work
  • Clear, compelling communication—with creatives, marketers, and cross-functional partners
  • A collaborative spirit and the confidence to give and receive feedback gracefully
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and stay cool under pressure
  • A deep respect for brand integrity and the willingness to challenge it (when needed)

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
