Senior Individual Technical Product Manager, Healthcare APIs, Integrations, and Platform Capabilities

  • Hybrid – from approved Wolters Kluwer Office

Role Overview

UpToDate (UTD) is a trusted global clinical decision support platform used by clinicians around the world.

The Technology Product Manager, Associate Director is an individual contributor role to lead product direction for APIs, integrations, and advanced platform capabilities that embed UpToDate into third-party clinical systems.

This role focuses on enabling secure, reliable, and scalable integration of UpToDate content and intelligence into EHRs, health systems, and other clinical environments. You will define the requirements these capabilities place on shared platform services and partner closely with platform product and engineering teams to ensure alignment.

This role directly influences how UpToDate shows up outside our core application. You will shape the integration layer that partners build on while influencing the underlying platform capabilities required to support them. Success means building capabilities that are widely adopted, operationally sound, and increasingly mature in their reliability, governance, and production readiness.

This role is well suited for someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, biased toward action, and effective in deeply cross-functional, technical, and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own product direction for APIs, integrations, and advanced platform capabilities that embed UpToDate into external clinical workflows.
  • Define clear product requirements for authentication, authorization, data exchange, workflow triggers, observability, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness.
  • Translate clinical, regulatory, and enterprise expectations into actionable product requirements and technical tradeoffs.
  • Shape roadmap sequencing and influence shared platform priorities through clearly articulated requirements and decisions.
  • Make tradeoffs across scope, timing, and technical approach when multiple teams and partners depend on shared foundations.
  • Establish standards for API lifecycle management, governance, versioning, and developer experience.
  • Drive the ongoing maturity of integration and platform solutions, improving reliability, monitoring, risk management, and production scalability.
  • Drive measurable adoption, reliability, and partner success through high-quality, workflow-integrated platform capabilities.
  • Partner closely with engineering, architecture, security, privacy, and legal stakeholders to ensure responsible scaling in regulated clinical environments.
  • Support integration discussions with business development and strategic partners and contribute to customer-facing conversations where platform capabilities intersect with clinical workflow needs.
  • Contribute to rollout planning, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement of platform capabilities at scale.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years delivering complex software products end-to-end, from problem framing through launch and iteration, including platform, API-first, developer-facing, or integration-heavy products.
  • 2+ years owning product direction for a platform capability, API surface, or shared technical system at a senior level.
  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to reason about APIs, distributed systems, authentication and authorization models, event-driven architectures, reliability concepts, and cloud-based systems. Able to engage credibly in architectural discussions and translate technical complexity into clear product decisions.
  • Demonstrated success defining and evolving integration platforms that developers adopt, including API design principles, lifecycle management, versioning strategies, governance standards, documentation, and developer experience.
  • Experience delivering AI-enabled capabilities in production environments, including defining requirements for evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and operational readiness.
  • Strong product judgment in enterprise or high-trust contexts, balancing partner needs, platform constraints, clinical and regulatory considerations, and business impact.
  • Ability to lead through influence across engineering, architecture, security, compliance, and commercial stakeholders in regulated environments.
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated domains strongly preferred; familiarity with EHR integrations and healthcare interoperability standards is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a technical role such as software engineering or solutions architecture is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with business development or strategic partnership teams preferred.
