About the role

Do you have a passion for the world of high tech? Do you like to explain complex topics? Do you like to write? Starburst is looking for an information engineer to join their information engineering team over the summer for an internship/returnship.

You get to work with our Starburst Enterprise and Starburst Galaxy products, as well as with the Trino open source project to improve their documentation. A background in computer science, data analysis, or similar helps you communicate with product managers and developers to improve and explain the products.

Familiarity with documentation platforms, markdown, and HTML, as well as some experience with programming is needed to get the job done. Knowledge of databases, SQL, object storage, and data analysis is helpful to grasp your users’ roles and responsibilities. Have a look at https://docs.starburst.io and https://trino.io/docs/current/ to see what you will be working on!

This paid internship will span 10 weeks in Summer 2025 from June 2, - August 29.

We are a remote-first, but not only company. As part of our internship program, certain events may require in-person attendance at our Boston Headquarters.

  • A GitHub or similar account with activity that clearly demonstrates your familiarity with coding and coding workflows in a programming language.
  • A portfolio or website that demonstrates how you use content to support a technical audience through clear, concise writing if this content is not available in your GitHub account.
  • Familiarity with one or more documentation platforms.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong editing skills, and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote capacity, as well as within a team environment.
