About the role

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled UX Researcher to lead research initiatives across both product experiences and payment systems. This role is ideal for someone who combines a strong foundation in user research methodologies with a practical understanding of technical tools and systems.

As a Technical UX Researcher, you will play a central role in uncovering how competitors design, monetize, and scale their products. The ideal candidate will be comfortable conducting both traditional UX research and technically-oriented investigations, including traffic and payment methods analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research on competing products to evaluate user experience, monetization strategy, patterns, feature implementation, and overall product strategy.

  • Reverse-engineer key product flows (e.g., onboarding, in-app engagement, retention mechanisms) to identify best practices and innovation opportunities.

  • Document and present detailed competitive benchmarks and UX assessments.

  • Analyze end-to-end payment journeys, including checkout flows, subscription logic, and fraud prevention techniques.

  • Identify and evaluate payment providers, billing infrastructure, and pricing strategies used by competitors.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in UX Research, Product Research, or a comparable role involving product and user behavior analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform structured competitive research and technical analysis of digital products.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently plan, execute, and document research findings.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, e-commerce, or other digital-first product environments.

Nice to have
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Miro) and research platforms.

  • Experience in QA, or exposure to developer tools.

  • Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is a plus.

  • Prior experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.

Location

Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours.
