General Responsibilities
Provides advanced technical service and expertise to customers across the North American dairy sector (United States and Canada). This role strengthens the commercial organization by supporting product adoption, delivering technical training, and translating research insights into practical, field ready solutions. This position ensures that the Territory Sales Managers are equipped with the scientific understanding, tools, and confidence needed to effectively position and sell the full product portfolio—with particular emphasis on core nutritional solutions.
The role also serves as a critical liaison between the field and corporate R&D, ensuring that customer needs, emerging challenges, and real world performance data inform research priorities, product development, and technical messaging. Under the guidance of the Manager, the Ruminant Technical Support Specialist exercises moderate independence while contributing meaningfully to both short and long term commercial objectives.
• Leverage and merchandise technical programs at key accounts to maximize commercial value for the customer and Novus.
• Act as the key link between sales and R&D to successfully implement and validate our products in field at the customer level.
• Increase awareness of Novus products to feed mill nutritionists, nutrition consultants, and university/extension people. Represent Novus at industry meetings and symposia.
• Align with marketing in the development of product positioning, review of technical information for use in the sales effort, and play an integral role in the marketing/sales customer interface.
• Develop technical programs that enhance the Novus image and technical credibility throughout region.
• Provide technical support to sales managers and customers and forward technical agenda, supporting the use and correct positioning of Novus products in region. Train sales personnel in correct positioning and implementation of Novus products and value they deliver to our customers.
• Advise sales managers, analytical services, customer service, operations, marketing and other technical service staff worldwide.
• Adhere to the Novus Management System (NMS), Novus Integrity System (NIS) and all policies and procedures related to position assignment.

General Guidance for Key Knowledge/Skills/ Experience
• PhD in Dairy Cattle Nutrition.
• 5+ years of animal nutrition experience.
• Advanced knowledge of nutrition and feed formulation in dairy and beef markets in assigned territory.
• Familiar with Sales process.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with effective presentation skills in explaining complex products into key solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a proven ability to rapidly assess and respond to customer challenges.

Other Essential Requirements
• Fluent in English.
• Spanish is a plus (desirable).
