What You Will Contribute:
The Technical Sales Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing and guiding a team of Solution Architects, Senior Solution Architects and Sales Engineers. This position focuses on driving the technical sales strategy, ensuring that the team effectively supports the sales process, and delivering high-value solutions to customers. The Technical Sales Manager will work closely with the sales, product development and marketing teams to align technical resources with business objective, ultimately driving growth and customer satisfaction.
This role will require up to 60% travel.
Essential Job Duties
Lead, mentor and manage team and provide guidance, coaching and professional development opportunities to ensure the team is equipped to meet the demands of the sales process.
Develop and implement a comprehensive technical sales strategy that aligns with the company's overall sales goals. Ensure that the team is effectively supporting the sales process by delivering technical expertise, solution design, and customer presentations.
Collaborate with the sales team to provide pre-sales technical assistance, including solution/system design, RFP/bid responses, and customer presentations. Ensure that the technical team is prepared to address customer needs and provide innovative solutions.
Work closely with product management, marketing and sales teams to ensure the alignment of technical resources with product offerings and customer needs. Provide feedback from the field to inform product development and marketing strategies.
Engage directly with key customers to understand their technical requirements, challenges and opportunities. Leverage this understanding to tailor solutions that meet customer needs and drive satisfaction.
Allocate technical resources effectively across various sales opportunities. Ensure that the team is prioritizing efforts based on the potential for revenue growth and customer impact.
Ensure continuous learning and development of the technical team. Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and competitive offerings and ensure that the team is equipped wit the latest knowledge and skills.
Set performance goals for the technical team, track progress and evaluate performance effectiveness. Provide regular feedback and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure the team meets or exceeds objectives.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or a related field required. An advanced degree is preferred.
8+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering or solution architecture.
At least 3+ years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of managing technical teams in a sales driven environment.
Qualifications
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing technical professionals.
Advanced proficiency in technical sales methodologies, solution design, and customer presentations.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
Deep understanding of the industry, products and technologies relevant to the company offerings.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for customer meetings, sales opportunities, and team development.

The target base compensation for this role is $135,000 plus sales incentive plan.
