Technical Sales Engineer

The Mission

This role is first and foremost about driving new business. The Technical Sales Engineer for NAM region will take ownership of net-new opportunities, working closely with prospects and partners to position, demonstrate, and close deals with Virtuozzo technologies. Success in this role will be measured by new customer acquisition and revenue growth, with strong technical depth ensuring credibility and confidence throughout the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive new customer sales: own the technical and commercial engagement for net-new opportunities from discovery through to closure.
  • Enable and support channel partners technically, ensuring they can confidently pitch, demonstrate, and deliver Virtuozzo solutions under their own brand.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners and prospects, building confidence through hands-on demonstrations, proofs of concept, and technical workshops.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage standard PoC environments or trial tenants using reusable templates or shared infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain reusable demo scenarios, automation scripts, and configuration blueprints for typical use cases (HA scenarios, Kubernetes clusters, S3 setup, etc.).
  • Deliver customer-facing demos, PoCs, and technical discovery sessions with minimal reliance on Engineering or PS.
  • Conduct structured technical qualification for opportunities before involving Engineering or PS.
  • Own internal demo and PoC environments (lab management), including VM templates, cloud instances, and diagnostic tools.
  • Create enablement materials for Sales and Partners (quick start guides, demo flows, FAQs, etc.).
  • Deliver internal technical training and workshops on product capabilities and standard configurations.
  • Document repeatable deployment patterns, known issues, and troubleshooting steps for internal knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise closely with Product Management to provide market-driven feedback on features, enhancements, and competitive requirements.

Role Emphasis

This is a true Technical Sales Engineer role, not limited to presales. It combines new business accountability with deep technical engagement: winning new logos, enabling the partner ecosystem, closing deals, and directly influencing the product roadmap.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
