Weiss Asset Management (WAM), a Boston-based investment firm, is seeking a highly intelligent and self-motivated Technical Recruiter to join our People Operations team. This individual will play a key role in hiring top-tier talent for technical positions during a period of rapid growth, supporting all aspects of the hiring process. A successful candidate will have strong organization, communication, and critical thinking skills and should thrive in a fast-paced environment.

1-5 years of technical recruiting experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Own lateral hiring for technical roles, managing full-cycle recruitment from sourcing to offer management.

  • Collaborate with hiring teams and other stakeholders to assess staffing needs, advise on hiring strategies, and provide critical feedback to improve recruiting outcomes.

  • Design and implement structured hiring processes, including sourcing strategies, interview plans, and role specifications.

  • Ensure a seamless candidate experience by keeping candidates engaged and moving efficiently through the process.

  • Source and recruit technical talent using LinkedIn Recruiter and other outbound strategies.

  • Build and manage relationships with external recruiters, identifying strong partners to supplement direct sourcing efforts.

About the Company:

For over 30 years, Weiss Asset Management has developed proprietary value-based investment strategies designed to deliver high risk-adjusted returns to our investors, who include charitable foundations, pension plans, endowments, hospitals, government entities and private investors. We manage approximately $3.8 billion across hedge funds and institutional accounts. We work collaboratively to solve problems, and to identify undervalued assets through deep fundamental research, statistical analysis and an analytically rigorous approach to decision making. Above all else, we value integrity, uncompromising rationality, creativity and entrepreneurship, and continuous learning and improvement.

Our team of around 100 individuals is the engine of our success and we welcome truly exceptional candidates from all backgrounds.

WAM is a fit for you if:

  • You enjoy a collaborative environment, where decisions are made in diverse teams. At WAM, all employees can expect to work directly with members of other departments representing a range of backgrounds.

  • You work well in a flat structure and are comfortable voicing dissenting opinion. Talent and work ethic will dictate what you can achieve at WAM, as evidenced by the fact that our president and the majority of our managing directors began their careers here as interns.

  • You are driven to constantly learn, improve, and make rational decisions based in fact and data, and you welcome receiving feedback as well as sharing knowledge with others.

  • You prioritize acting ethically in all situations.

WAM is an equal opportunity employer. Women, minorities, people with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
