Who You Are

Deeply passionate about Ontic’s brand vision and values: Do Good Above All, Raise the Bar, Leading with Empathy, Walk the Walk and Keep Moving

Ontic is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead technically complex client deployments and platform implementations, including secure cloud environments. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, project management discipline, and cross-functional leadership across teams like Engineering, Product, DevOps, and InfoSec. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology and client success, with a proven track record in enterprise SaaS implementation, technical program delivery, and stakeholder communication.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will be a critical leader in the implementation of Ontic’s platform for high-value clients, ensuring projects are executed with precision and high standards of security and performance. You’ll also play a key role in managing technical dependencies, change control, and platform readiness in collaboration with internal R&D teams.

Responsibilities

Formal Project Management, Leadership & Delivery Oversight

  • Lead project delivery for complex client implementations, coordinating onboarding activities, deliverables, and timelines across internal and client-facing teams

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle, ensuring a seamless, strategic, and technically informed onboarding experience

  • Manage project scope, schedules, risks, and dependencies in collaboration with cross-functional leads, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal goals

  • Develop, document, and maintain detailed project plans, including clearly defined scope, goals, timelines, roles, and dependencies

  • Ensure all scope changes are documented and communicated through appropriate change control processes

  • Own and drive the creation of supporting project documentation, including implementation plans, stakeholder matrices, RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), and status reports

  • Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and misalignments—developing mitigation strategies to maintain project velocity and delivery quality.

  • Facilitate internal and external meetings with a clear agenda, defined outcomes, and documented follow-ups.

  • Drive accountability across workstreams to keep project phases on track and escalate risks proactively

  • Maintain consistent, transparent communication with clients and internal stakeholders, providing status updates, tracking deliverables, and managing expectations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Technical Program Manager to ensure technical requirements across Product, Engineering, DevOps, and InfoSec are surfaced, scoped, and tracked effectively.

  • Work closely with Implementation, Success, and Account Management teams to synchronize planning and execution across operational and client-facing workstream

  • Facilitate internal alignment and remove delivery roadblocks through proactive communication, meeting coordination, and issue resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience as a TPM, Engineering Project Manager, or Technical Program Lead in a SaaS or cloud environment

  • Proven background in enterprise SaaS implementation, including cross-functional coordination, stakeholder management, and technical delivery

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana), technical collaboration platforms, and agile delivery frameworks

  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)

  • Understanding of DevOps, software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and security practices

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to adapt between executive-level and technical detail

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
