The Job

As a Commercial Technical Operations Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring optimal performance for a distributed portfolio of solar PV and energy storage assets. You'll be the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients, working closely with Portfolio Managers and the broader Commercial Operations Team. 

We’re looking for commercial technicians and installers who also love working with clients and partners. From asset onboarding to performance management and reporting, you'll directly contribute to delivering exceptional client experiences while supporting operational excellence and innovation in clean energy.

For this next hire, we will be prioritizing candidates in Pacific or Mountain time zones

What You'll Do

  • Technical Expertise and Client Engagement (60%)
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients in a portfolio of about 250-350 MW of distributed solar assets
  • Review service visit reports before they are presented to clients and participate in weekly client check-in calls to provide on-the-spot technical expertise
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, field service partners, internal team members, and other asset stakeholders
  • Operational Support and Field Coordination (20%)
  • Investigate issues using site monitoring platforms, and initiate activities to improve asset performance.
  • Create, manage, and oversee tickets for planned and unplanned service activities.
  • Coordinate and manage service activities with field service partners.
  • Support onsite service technicians during service work and check-out calls.
  • Collaborate with external engineering firms for retrofits, repowering, and redesigns.
  • Battery Storage and Continuous Improvement (20%)
  • Own the technical aspect of our Commercial BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) program, including sales support, pricing proposals, scope development, contract review, and operational implementation
  • Contribute to the development and updates of Omnidian’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and QA/QC program
  • Participate in initiatives supporting sales and product development.

Experience You’ll Need

  • 3+ yrs of hands-on experience as a solar technician, installer, OEM field service engineer, or similar role, with at least 2 of those years in Commercial Solar
  • 2+ yrs working in client account management, field service coordination, or other administrative functions.
  • Familiarity with energy storage technologies
  • Experience with solar monitoring DAS platforms and interpreting system design drawings.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), G Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets) and CRM systems (Salesforce, Zendesk, etc)
  • Experienced with CRM systems

Experience That's a Plus

  • 3+ yrs in the solar energy industry in account management, asset management, system design, or field service/maintenance.
  • Deep technical knowledge of commercial battery energy storage systems
  • NABCEP certification(s)
  • Experience in Salesforce
