Integration Reliability Engineer, Technical Operations, LinkAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe’s Financial Connections group is building technology that expands the scope of problems we tackle beyond card payments. We aspire to enable individuals and businesses to securely share their financial data to improve their product experiences. With more high-quality customer financial data, both Stripe and our users can offer better products to their customers. We have ambitious goals to enable all global businesses to run their entire financial life cycle on Stripe, and we want you to be part of our story.

Technical Operations roles in Financial Connections, and at Stripe, are a dynamic and key component of the organization’s success. Focused on financial partner integrations, we sit at the intersection of product/platform engineers and financial partners, connecting them to ensure that everyone thrives and nothing is lost in translation.

What you’ll doResponsibilities
  • Become a domain expert in an area of open banking, financial data access, and data aggregation
  • Handle inquiries from internal Stripes and external partners’ technical teams, often requiring detailed investigation and sometimes code/configuration changes
  • Engage with Stripe's financial partners to drive alignment on product usage, troubleshoot and solve technical problems or breakages
  • Identify and automate inefficient or unnecessary manual processes through code changes, partner agreements, or driving complex process changes across Stripe
  • Conduct complex data analysis to drive investigations, glean insights into product performance, and scope partner requirements
  • Build and launch new financial partner integrations using existing engineering tooling
  • Design future anomaly detection systems and tools to ensure that data flowing through our partner and internal systems is reliable and correct
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Technical Operations roles are a combination of coding, data analysis, and managing cross-functional projects with partners inside and outside of Stripe.  The ideal candidate will have experience in interfacing with technical systems, conducting data analysis, and managing complex projects but successful candidates may index more highly in one area than another.

Minimum requirements

  • Great technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop a working understanding of a technical system using a variety of methods. These include (but aren't limited to): reading/writing code, reading documentation or partner specifications, running debugging programs, reading logs, asking well-formed questions to domain experts, or digging into the raw data through various interfaces
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to frame messages appropriately for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency navigating a variety of data systems to diagnose and scope issues
  • Comfort with developer tools (e.g. git), and an ability to make well-scoped code changes in Stripe's codebase
  • An instinct to produce work that increases the impact of others and helps us scale
Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with payment technologies and banking ecosystems
  • Experience with Presto, Splunk and other data querying languages is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in HTML including semantic markup and structure
