QuickNode is a cloud-based infrastructure company that powers the blockchain ecosystem.

Our mission is to be the indispensable utility that empowers companies and innovators globally to build next-generation, Web3 enabled businesses & applications using blockchain technology. QuickNode is backed by some of the world's best investors including Tiger Global, Y Combinator, SoftBank, and the Seven Seven Six Fund. The QuickNode team has over 120 people maintaining high performance global data infrastructure for amazing customers serving billions of requests daily.

We are a global remote company with an HQ in Miami, Florida.

The Role

QuickNode’s Tech Ops team is looking for an engineer who lives and breathes rollups. Your mission is to take a customer’s idea for a new L2 or app-chain—from “we think we want an Orbit/zkSync/CDK chain” to a live, monitored, auto-healing production deployment that delivers 99.99%+ uptime. You will design, launch, and operate rollups across the major stacks (OP Superchain, Arbitrum Orbit, ZK Stack, Polygon CDK, and more), integrate alternative data-availability layers, harden key-management, and keep everything humming at scale. If you love shipping infrastructure fast, fixing what isn’t documented yet, and working directly with foundations and builders, we want to talk to you.

Timezone: US EST (Eastern Timezone)

What You'll Do

  • End-to-End Rollup Deployments

    • Own the design, Helm/Kubernetes manifests, Terraform modules, and Ansible playbooks that spin up sequencers, batchers, provers, indexers, and supporting services.

    • Integrate DA layers such as Celestia, Avail, EigenDA, AnyTrust, etc.

  • Chain Upgrades & Post-Launch Ops

    • Maintain production rollups through version bumps, parameter tweaks, smart-contract upgrades, and emergency hot-fixes while meeting 4×9 SLOs.

    • Write and refine runbooks, automated health-checks, and self-service tooling so new chains move from staging to prod in hours—not weeks.

  • Monitoring, Alerting & Incident Response

    • Build Grafana/Prometheus dashboards, tune alerts, and hook everything into PagerDuty.

    • Lead incident triage and retros, digging into logs, metrics, and on-chain events to root-cause failures.

  • Foundation & Customer Collaboration

    • Pair with ecosystem devs to debug protocol-level issues; submit upstream PRs when the fix lives in open-source.

    • Translate product/sales requirements into clear infra specs for customers who “just want their chain live.”

  • Security & Key Management

    • Design and operate HSM- or Vault-backed workflows for sequencer & bridge keys.

    • Enforce least-privilege network and firewall policies in cloud & bare-metal environments.

  • Continuous Improvement

    • Benchmark performance across cloud providers, instance types, and kernels; drive cost/perf optimizations.

    • Automate everything you touch to shrink mean-time-to-launch and eliminate snowflakes.

  • On-Call Rotation

    • Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call schedule to ensure global coverage.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven Experience

    • 5 + years in SRE / DevOps / Tech Ops, with at least 1 year hands-on launching or operating rollup chains (OP, Arbitrum, zkSync, Polygon CDK, etc.).

    • Deep Linux internals knowledge and comfort troubleshooting at the kernel, network, and container layers.

  • Rollup & Smart-Contract Expertise

    • Clear mental model of sequencer pipelines, batchers, provers, bridges, fraud/validity proofs, and L1/L2 messaging.

    • Ability to deploy & verify smart contracts, change chain parameters, and wire up alt-DA endpoints.

  • Kubernetes & IaC Mastery

    • Fluent in Helm, Kustomize, and vanilla manifests; confidence running multi-cluster, multi-region setups.

    • Terraform and Ansible power-user for repeatable infra builds; Docker is muscle memory.

  • Observability & Reliability

    • Strong Grafana/Prometheus (or Datadog) skills: custom exporters, SLO dashboards, alert tuning, and incident analytics.

    • Experience integrating alerting with PagerDuty (or similar) and conducting post-mortems.

  • Data & Services

    • Operational familiarity with Postgres (logical replication, high-availability), Redis, and common rollup indexer DB schemas.

    • Comfortable standing up REST/gRPC services in Go/TypeScript/Python to glue components together.

  • Security Mindset

    • Hands-on with Vault, HSMs, or KMS for key custody; knowledge of secure signing workflows and secrets management.

  • Soft Skills

    • Clear, concise communicator who can jump into a customer call or foundation Discord and make the complex simple.

    • Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments; biased toward action, but disciplined about follow-through.

Bonus

  • Contributed code to an L2/rollup client, DA layer, or bridge project.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
