We are looking for a Technical Deployment Manager to drive smooth, on-time customer deployments across multiple geographies and time zones.
This role serves as the single-threaded owner from sales handoff through customer go-live, ensuring that every deployment is well-coordinated, predictable, and executed without surprises. You will coordinate across Sales, Manufacturing, Operations, Field Service, and Applications teams while acting as a clear point of contact for customers during deployment planning.
This is an in-person, on-site role based at our Boston headquarters, requiring close coordination with internal teams and hands-on engagement with deployment readiness.
Beyond deployments, you will also support cross-functional initiatives led by the Scientific Program Manager, contributing to internal programs that improve scalability, readiness, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is organized, technically fluent, and proactive — someone who asks the right questions early, identifies risks before they escalate, and drives teams to action when timelines are at risk.
Day 1 to Year 1:
- Own end-to-end deployment execution from signed order through successful installation and handoff to customer-facing teams.
- Build and manage detailed deployment plans, ensuring readiness across instruments, consumables, software, documentation, and field resources.
- Coordinate shipments, monitor milestones, and proactively identify and escalate risks related to logistics, site readiness, or resource availability.
- Serve as the central point of coordination across Sales, Manufacturing, Operations, Field Service Engineers, Applications Scientists, and Support.
- Communicate clearly with customers on deployment timelines, dependencies, and changes, ensuring alignment and trust throughout the process.
- Lead rapid issue response when deployment-critical problems arise, making decisions under uncertainty and mobilizing the right teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Translate recurring deployment challenges into scalable processes, playbooks, and SOPs to improve future execution.
- Support internal, cross-functional initiatives (e.g., process improvements, readiness frameworks, deployment scaling efforts) in partnership with the Scientific Program Manager.
Within 6 months you’ll…Own full deployment cycles independently from sales handoff through go-live. Drive improved install readiness and reduce last-minute surprises through proactive planning. Act as the primary point of contact for customers during deployment execution
At 12+ months you’ll…Own deployments across multiple regions with consistent, high-quality execution. Establish standardized deployment playbooks, checklists, and SOPs. Drive continuous improvements that increase deployment speed, predictability, and customer satisfaction. Contribute to broader operational programs that support scaling deployments globally.
Who You Are:
- 4–5 years of experience in project management, deployment logistics, technical operations, customer operations, or a related field (BS or MS preferred)
- Comfortable navigating hardware, software, and technical workflows — fluent enough to understand dependencies and ask the right questions
- Takes ownership seriously: moves work forward across teams, holds stakeholders accountable, and drives progress without waiting for perfect information
- Challenges assumptions, asks questions early, and digs into root causes before small issues become big ones
- Makes practical decisions quickly in ambiguous situations to keep deployments on track
- Clear, structured communicator who can coordinate effectively across internal teams and external customers
- Flexible across time zones and willing to support deployment-critical activities outside standard hours when needed
- Experience supporting instrument deployments, field operations, or customer implementations in biotech, life sciences, or technical hardware environments
- Familiarity with laboratory workflows, sample prep, sequencing, or NGS-related operations
- Track record of building or improving operational processes in a fast-scaling organization
