Job Description

To maintain accurate records of all hardware assets, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal. Perform detailed analysis on hardware asset data to identify trends, optimise usage, and support decision-making. Manage and optimise computer hardware assets throughout their life cycles.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in hardware asset management or a related field. Solid working experience of asset disposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all hardware assets are accurately recorded and maintained within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Oversee the integration of hardware asset data with the CMDB, ensuring consistency and alignment between the asset management and configuration management processes.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all hardware assets, including servers, desktops, laptops, network equipment, and peripherals.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of hardware asset records in the CMDB, including details such as asset type, ownership, location, status, and lifecycle stage. Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to validate hardware asset data, identifying and resolving any discrepancies between the CMDB and physical inventories.
  • Track the entire lifecycle of hardware assets within the CMDB, from acquisition to retirement, ensuring that all relevant data is updated in a timely manner. Monitor and report on hardware asset lifecycle stages (e.g., procurement, deployment, maintenance, disposal) within the CMDB.
  • Classify hardware assets as Configuration Items (CIs) within the CMDB, ensuring they are correctly tagged, categorised, and associated with relevant attributes and relationships. Maintain an accurate representation of hardware asset relationships and dependencies within the CMDB, such as associations with software, network components, and services.
  • Support change management processes by ensuring that changes to hardware assets are accurately reflected in the CMDB. Document and track all changes to hardware assets within the CMDB, including updates, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Generate reports and dashboards from the CMDB to provide insights into hardware asset status, utilisation, compliance, and lifecycle management. Analyse hardware asset data within the CMDB to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for cost savings or optimisation.
  • Ensure that hardware asset data within the CMDB complies with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. Provide support during internal and external audits by ensuring the availability and accuracy of hardware asset records within the CMDB.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve CMDB and hardware asset management (HAM) processes, tools, and practices to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and value of hardware asset management. Implement best practices in hardware asset and configuration management, leveraging industry standards.
  • Work closely with IT, procurement, finance, and operations teams to gather, validate, and update hardware asset information in the CMDB. Provide training and guidance to relevant stakeholders on CMDB and hardware asset management processes, ensuring effective use and maintenance of the CMDB.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to CMDB and hardware asset management processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and guidelines. Ensure that knowledge related to CMDB and HAM is well-documented, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all hardware assets comply with relevant policies, standards, and regulations.
