As a Tax Manager within our Tax Solutions team, you will be responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for the firm's clients. You will work closely with the Managing Directors of our Tax team to identify the needs of clients and prospects and to identify and implement solutions. 
You will provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise. Our managers provide exceptional client service as a trusted business advisor and efficiently run engagements and relationships independently.

What you’ll do at SN: 

Client Management 

  • Serve as the tax services project manager and main point of contact for appropriate clients. 
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage their expectations, ensure client satisfaction, and make sure deadlines are met. 
  • Manage, direct, and monitor multiple client services teams on client engagements including ongoing evaluation of engagement performance. 
  • Interact closely with assigned tax clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients while managing the client assignments to budget. 
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating non-technically to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for them and SN. 
  • Manage the interaction of multiple service offerings within the firm including outsourced accounting, strategic tax, advisory, technology, and assurance services. 

Compliance 

  • Responsible for the management and delivery of a full range of tax services including passthrough entity, corporation, and individual tax returns for multiple clients in a variety of industries heavily focused on professional services, construction, and manufacturing. 
  • Direct and monitor the state tax compliance, composite, and PTE filing activities. 
  • Conduct detailed review of complex passthrough, corporate, and individual tax returns. 
  • For Partnerships: assist clients with life events for partnerships, tax allocations, inside and outside basis computations, Section 704(c) and section 734(b)/743(b) computations, and Schedule K-1 processing. 
  • For S Corporations: assist clients with life events, basis computations, distributions and redemptions and the interplay with Sections 301, 302, 318 and 1368. 
  • Conduct and review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards. 
  • Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law. 

People Management 

  • Manage, develop, train and mentor assigned tax staff and seniors on tax projects and assess their performance for both engagement and annual performance reviews. 
  • Appropriate delegation of responsibilities to seniors, staff, and offshore accountants. 
  • Serve as a mentor or coach to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback. 

What you may have done before 

  • Led tax projects with both seniors and associates at a public accounting firm.  
  • Maintain deep client relationships  
  • Worked with s-corps and pass through entities clients 

What it takes to be a Tax Manager: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field 
  • CPA/EA License or JD 
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in public accounting, 
  • Strong technical knowledge of taxation, including Corporate, Partnerships, C Corporations, and S Corporation

  • Stage 3 (Behavioral Interview & Cultural Interviews) three total interviews, one with a member of our HR team and two with two members of the tax practice

Salary: The salary range for this position is an estimate of $105,000 - $140,000. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
