The Role

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Tax Lead to own and scale our US tax function. You’ll manage all aspects of federal and state tax filings across individual and corporate entities, drive automation and process improvements, and provide light advisory to founders. This is a high-impact role that collaborates closely with early-stage companies and internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of US tax filings:

    • Federal and state corporate income tax returns (C-Corp, S-Corp, LLCs)

    • Personal tax filings for founders and early employees

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws across multiple jurisdictions

  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate tax processes

  • Provide light tax advisory on topics like:

    • Founder compensation

    • Entity structuring

    • State nexus

  • Collaborate with the accounting team to align tax and financial reporting

  • Communicate directly with startup founders in a clear, empathetic, and practical way

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in US tax (public accounting or in-house)

  • Deep knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual taxation

  • Strong experience with multi-state compliance and filings

  • Familiarity with tax software and process automation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • CPA required

Bonus Points
  • Experience filing taxes across a wide range of entity types and states

  • Prior work with early-stage or venture-backed startups

  • Familiarity with tools like UltraTax, ProConnect, or Canopy

  • Background in Big 4 or national tax firms

Compensation
  • Salary: $80,000 – $140,000 USD, depending on experience
