Job Description
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Associate will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Tax Department. This includes involvement in tax return preparation, month-end close, audit support, and special projects. The Tax Associate will also contribute to the development of best practices and procedures in compliance with internal accounting and SOX-related policies. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with personnel across all levels of the organization, possess a working knowledge of best practices in a corporate tax environment, and seamlessly organize and track various tax projects.
To succeed as Privia’s Tax Associate, you will be focused on optimizing department processes and building strong relationships across the business. You will be a knowledgeable, analytical, and decisive professional with excellent communication and leadership skills. This is a dynamic role within a rapidly growing company that requires active participation in day-to-day control activities within the tax process area.
- Assist and support the quarterly corporate income tax provision process
- Assist with the processing and delivery of all partnership and related income tax returns for the organization (including K-1 distribution)
- Assist and support the production of Privia’s corporate state and federal income tax returns
- Support accurate and timely month-end close procedures for all tax matters
- Draft response letters to IRS and state notices
- Participate in tax registration events
- Prepare other tax returns as needed, including sales tax, business license, franchise, property, and gross receipts tax returns
- Participate in strategic tax initiatives and conduct federal, state or local tax research
- Assist with external and/or internal audit requests and other projects
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process improvements, technology driven solutions, and automation, and assisting with implementation of such efforts
- Maintain accurate accounting files and records in accordance with organization business policies, GAAP, and internal control activities
Qualifications
- 1+ years of public or corporate tax experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or CPA eligible, preferred
- Healthcare, public company, or public accounting experience a big plus
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with peers (customer focused), and cross-functionally within the company
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or large ERP system a plus
- Ability to meet internal and external deadlines in a fast-paced SOX compliant environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, demonstrate resourcefulness, and proactively develop creative solutions
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Self-motivated and self-directed with demonstrated ability to work well with others
- Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations
The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, 401K, paid time off, and other wellness programs). This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 15%.The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
