About the RoleAs an Experienced Tax Associate, you will play a fundamental role in supporting our dynamic company in planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, international, and other applicable tax laws and regulations, as well as financial reporting for income taxes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate taxation and be well-versed with the complexities of accounting for income taxes under ASC 740. You will support direct and indirect taxes, including income, sales and use, property, and consumption-based taxes.
In this role, you will contribute to the company’s tax compliance efforts, assist in the preparation of tax returns, and support the team in ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. Your duties will also include analyzing tax ramifications of strategic initiatives or significant M&A transactions, performing research of complex tax return issues, and supporting the execution of tax controls. You will also develop relationships by working closely with other teams at Sierra Space including treasury, legal, finance, and accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings.

  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740.

  • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to gather information for tax compliance and financial reporting.

  • Conduct tax research of laws and regulations and develop tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position.

  • Assist with the preparation of tax forecasts and estimations to support financial planning.

  • Liaise with external tax consultants and auditors during examinations and audits, particularly in support of the tax provision process.

  • Maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in tax legislation that may impact the company.

  • Assist with special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field of study (or equivalent work

  • experience in lieu of degree).

  • Typically 2 + years of experience.

  • Certifications: CPA.

  • Experience at a public accounting firm or reporting income tax for industry in house tax department

  • Familiarity with ASC 740 reporting, tax laws, and procedures.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports and financial projections.

  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.

  • Experience with OneSource corporate tax provision and tax compliance tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typically 1 - 3 years of relevant and demonstrated tax experience.

  • Pursuing or Have Obtained: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), JD, Masters in Taxation, or LL.M in Taxation

  • Working knowledge and experience with domestic and international income tax compliance, documentation, and reporting functions

  • Knowledge of the monitoring and maintenance of SOX tax controls.

  • Strong business analytical skills with experience analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports and/or projections.

  • Proven experience and skills in time management, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms; ability to tailor conversations to adapt to varying audiences.

  • Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions.

  • Experience with OneSource Income Tax and/or Provision Software

  • Experience with Vertex Sales Tax Software

  • Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.

  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.

COMPENSATION

Annual Salary Range:

$68,500 - $93,500 USD

 

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
