Job Description:

SUMMARY: 

This position is responsible for completing indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, gross receipts tax, and property tax. The Tax Accountant will also be responsible for preparing intercompany transfer pricing calculations. In addition, the Tax Accountant will assist with addressing correspondence from tax authorities, performing tax research, and other tax projects. This role will be approximately 80% indirect tax and 20% transfer pricing.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:  
  • Prepare and coordinate the filing of global indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, gross receipts tax, and property tax, as well as processing payments and preparing supporting analyses and reconciliations 
  • Collect, validate, and store customer exemption certificates 
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transfer pricing calculations  
  • Assist in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and tax return disclosures, including local files, master files, and supporting analyses 
  • Maintain tax calendars/trackers for indirect tax and transfer pricing deliverables 
  • Organize and address inquiries from tax authorities 
  • Implement and maintain process automation and efficiencies 
  • Maintain internal controls for indirect tax and transfer pricing activities 
  • Monitor, track, and interpret tax law changes impacting indirect taxes and transfer pricing 
  • Assist with special projects, as needed  
  • Leverage and collaborate with external tax advisors and service providers, where applicable 
  • Lead or participate in other cross-functional projects  
  • Occasional travel may be required  
  • Participate in other projects or duties.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Detail-oriented team player with strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to research and solve problems both independently and collaboratively in a team environment and develop new skills in a fast-paced environment with constant changes in tax laws, technology tools, and business initiatives  
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical tax information, as well as, present research findings effectively to both internal and external parties in oral and in written form.  
  • Ability to adhere to internal due dates, work under tight deadlines, handle multiple tasks concurrently and adapt to changing priorities  
  • Strong business acumen and technical skills

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, specialized training or equivalent work experience required  
  • Advance degree or working toward an advanced degree in taxation preferred  
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a corporate tax department of a publicly traded multi-state, multi-national corporation or at a national public accounting firm required  
  • Experience with Vertex O Series preferred 
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office suite of products  
  • Experience with multistate corporate taxation required  
  • General international tax experience a plus  
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Pay Transparency Statement:

US Base Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $112,500.00

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
