ARE YOU READY TO TAKE YOUR CAREER TO NEW HEIGHTS? ARE YOU SEEKING A NEW CHALLENGE IN A DYNAMIC SECTOR?

This is a very exciting and highly innovative time here at Outside.

OUR TRUE NORTH:Outside Interactive, Inc., the premier hub for active lifestyle enthusiasts, offers best-in-class content and experiences to more than 70 million of the world’s most passionate outdoor, wellness, and endurance enthusiasts every month. We inspire a broad and diverse audience to do the activities they love with greater enjoyment, inspiration, and knowledge and are dedicated to making real change in the outdoor and fitness industries.

Most recruiters wait for candidates to come to them.

You don't wait. You prospect. You pitch. You close.

We're looking for someone who thinks less like a traditional recruiter and more like a sales rep who happens to love people - someone who gets energized by the hunt, knows how to build real relationships, and can sell the vision of a company that's genuinely doing something different. We’d especially love someone who is able to understand technical roles to help us recruit our next batch of innovative engineers.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Running full-cycle recruiting - but leading with relationship-building, not just requisition-filling
  • Working your network like it's your most valuable asset - because it is. You stay in touch, you show up, you remember details
  • Crafting outreach that actually sounds like a human wrote it - because candidates can smell a template from a mile away
  • Running conversations that feel like coffee chats, not interrogations - you know how to get people talking about what they actually want
  • Pitching roles in a way that makes candidates lean in - connecting what the job offers to what the person cares about
  • Navigating the "I'm not looking" with grace - not pressure. You plant seeds, you stay warm, you play a long game when needed
  • Partnering with hiring managers to understand what makes a role worth saying yes to, then going out and telling that story well

What we're looking for:

  • 2+ years in recruiting, sales, or any role where your ability to connect with people was the whole job
  • A genuine talent for building rapport fast - you can make a stranger feel like you've known each other for years
  • The confidence to cold outreach without a warm intro - and the charisma to make it not feel cold
  • A pitch instinct rooted in active listening - you know how to truly hear what someone values and meet them there (both candidates and hiring manager)
  • Strong written voice - your messages get replies because they feel personal, not transactional
  • Resilience - you don't let a no derail you. You learn from it and move on
  • Organization and attention to detail - you manage pipelines like a pro, and your follow-up is legendary.
  • Data instincts - you treat pipeline metrics like a game you have to win, constantly optimizing your approach.
  • Business acumen - you understand the strategic importance of a role and can sell the business value, not just the job description.

Bonus points if you've:

  • Done any technical recruiting or can understand the requirements for a technical role
  • Worked a room — conferences, meetups, campus events, industry networks
  • Sold something intangible: an idea, a role, a company, a vision
  • Built your own candidate community or talent network from scratch
  • Come from media, outdoor, or consumer brands where culture is part of the pitch

This isn't a "post and pray" role. It's a hunting role with heart.

If that sounds like you — let's talk.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
