Role: Backup Engineer (Commvault and Rubrik)
Location: Bangalore

Introduction:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backup Engineer with experience in Commvault and Rubrik to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in backup solutions and a proven track record of maintaining and troubleshooting backup infrastructures for enterprise environments. As a Backup Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our backup systems, with opportunities to grow into an engineering role and implement automation. This team also supports our storage infrastructure. This role will cross train to support those platforms
Some of the things you'll be doing:

• Manage and maintain backup solutions using Commvault and Rubrik technologies.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve backup and recovery issues across diverse environments.
• Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of backed-up data.
• Perform regular backup system audits and health checks to ensure optimal performance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop backup strategies, including disaster recovery plans.
• Develop and maintain backup and restore documentation and procedures.
• Assist with backup capacity planning and ensure systems scale effectively as data grows.
• Perform upgrades, patches, and other maintenance tasks on backup systems.
• Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Liaise with vendors (Commvault, Rubrik, etc.) for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Cross train on storage platforms. Fileshare and storage volume allocations

What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-7 years of hands-on experience with Commvault and Rubrik backup solutions.
• Strong knowledge of backup methodologies, storage architectures, and data protection strategies.
• Proficiency in disaster recovery planning and implementation, including testing and validation.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Azure cloud storage solutions.
• Solid understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.) in relation to backup and restore operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Familiarity with process automation using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) or Ansible a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commvault Certified Administrator or Engineer certification.
• Rubrik Certified Administrator or Engineer certification.
• Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, and object storage).
