Manages corporate back-office systems, including patching, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure troubleshooting, documentation, backups, disaster recovery, and security compliance. Administers Windows and virtualization environments, Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, directory integrations, and cloud services. Collaborates with IT teams and vendors, optimizes system performance, supports infrastructure growth, participates in on-call coverage, and performs scheduled off-hours maintenance onsite.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Engineer is a dedicated security position responsible for managing inventory and patch management systems for our corporate back-office. This includes applying service packs, hotfixes, security patches, drivers, firmware, and OS updates per industry best practices, as well as conducting system monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and remediation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly monitors system performance, applies patches and updates, and conducts routine maintenance to ensure reliability and security.
- Creates and updates detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, and network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Works closely with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to plan, implement, and improve infrastructure solutions.
- Analyzes system performance data to optimize resources and plan for future growth.
- Develops and maintains effective backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect critical data and services.
- Implements and enforces security policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and ensure systems adhere to compliance standards.
- Configures, manages, and optimizes Office 365 services, including Exchange Online and Teams.
- Integrate on-premises systems with cloud environments using tools like Azure Active Directory or AWS Directory Service.
- Participates in an on-call rotation.
- Other duties may be assigned as required by business need.
- Ability to maintain a consistent and regular attendance in accordance with an established schedule.
- Ability to work onsite/in-office and in accordance with CCS and department policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7–10 years of hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer in a Windows Active Directory environment, including administering Windows Server and applying service packs, hotfixes, security patches, drivers, firmware, and OS updates is required.
- Proficient with VMware ESX (v7.x or higher) and vSphere, including centralized administration via Virtual Center, VCP certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud environments on Microsoft Azure and AWS, with a solid understanding of virtual networking, compute, storage, and security services.
- Proven track record managing Office 365 services, such as Exchange Online, Teams, and integrating them with on-premises systems. Microsoft Certification a plus.
- Familiarity with Azure Entra, including configuring multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and role-based access control.
- Experience with blade server systems (preferably HP) and SAN technologies (preferably HP Nimble).
- Self-motivated, committed to continuous learning, receptive to feedback, and adaptable to change.
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills, with a strong ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Able to work outside normal business hours as needed for off hours maintenance is required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Microsoft Certification a plus.
- VCP Certification a plus.
