We are building or have built our own on-prem data centers globally and have teams focused on industry leading compute, network, storage and power optimization. Our people and our compute capabilities are our two most important differentiators, and that is where we are investing the most.

As a full-time Systems Engineer, you’ll work on projects that impact our live trading and research and allow them to run worldwide 24/7. A typical day could include scaling and keeping our HPC environment running smoothly or designing and building services to improve HRT’s research environment, but responsibilities are broad! Your day could also consist of hardware and software installation and configuration, remote administration, monitoring, new hardware and software testing, automation and tool development, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux systems
  • Comfortable using Linux/UNIX command line tools
  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Python and Shell scripting experience
  • Attention to detail needed to manage and debug production services
  • Strong communication and organization
  • You enjoy tinkering with technology in your spare time
  • Exceptional communication skills - this role will require cross-collaboration with various stakeholders across HRT
  • You are resourceful, have a sense of urgency, and are motivated to make things better and to always be learning.
  • Ability to context switch to work on several projects at once
  • Experience and knowledge of Debian/Ubuntu is a plus
  • GPU Optimization experience is a plus

Annual base salary range of $200,000 to $250,000. Pay may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonuses may also be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
