Supervisor, Learning & Development + People

Full Time, US Remote

Role Overview

The full-time remote Supervisor, Learning & Development + People is responsible for designing, building, and delivering programs that develop employee capability, strengthen culture, and enhance the employee experience.

This is a hands-on builder role, requiring end-to-end ownership of content development and facilitation across all learning, leadership, and internal programming needs. This individual translates business priorities into structured training programs, engaging workshops, and high-impact employee experiences.

While this role includes ownership of internal events, it is not an events coordination role — success is defined by the quality of content, strength of facilitation, and impact of programming.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development (Content Creation + Delivery)

  • Design and build all L&D content from scratch, including:
  • Training decks, facilitator guides, exercises, and toolkits
  • Role-based learning paths and curriculum
  • Leadership and manager training programs
  • Lead and facilitate all learning sessions, including workshops, trainings, and interactive programs
  • Create content that is practical, scenario-based, and immediately applicable to day-to-day work
  • Partner with leadership to identify capability gaps and translate them into structured programming
  • Continuously refine programs based on feedback, engagement, and business needs

Internal Programming & Facilitation

  • Serve as the accountable partner and facilitator for company-wide and leadership programming:
  • All Hands sessions
  • Manager trainings
  • Leadership offsites
  • Culture workshops
  • Design and lead highly interactive formats (workshops, activities, breakouts vs. lecture-based sessions)
  • Build repeatable programming frameworks and playbooks

Employee Experience & Events (Content-Driven)

  • Own end-to-end planning and execution of internal events, including:
  • All Hands
  • Offsites
  • Team-building and engagement initiatives
  • Ensure events are built around clear objectives, strong agendas, and integrated learning/culture content
  • Works with others to manage logistics, vendors, communications, and budgets
  • Elevate events into intentional culture-building experiences, not just informational gatherings

Culture & Engagement Initiatives

  • Partner with HR leadership to operationalize and reinforce company culture
  • Design programs that embed core values into training, events, and everyday behaviors
  • Lead initiatives across:
  • Employee engagement
  • Recognition and appreciation
  • Gather feedback and continuously improve programming

Program Strategy & Operations

  • Build and manage an annual roadmap across L&D, events, and culture initiatives
  • Track effectiveness through participation, engagement, and feedback
  • Ensure consistency and scalability across teams (US + global)
  • Manage tools, vendors, and budgets

What This Role Is (and Is Not)

This role is designed for someone who:

  • Builds, not just coordinates — creates content, frameworks, and programs from the ground up
  • Facilitates, not just supports — confidently leads sessions and engages diverse audiences
  • Owns outcomes, not just tasks — accountable for program impact, not just execution

This role is not a fit for candidates whose experience is primarily:

  • Event logistics without content ownership
  • HR coordination without L&D program design
  • Supporting training vs. leading and building it

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or Employee Experience
  • Proven experience designing L&D programs, building content, and facilitating sessions
  • Strong program management and event ownership experience
  • Skilled in developing training materials, frameworks, and interactive learning experiences
  • Confident, engaging presenter with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail
  • Must be open to travel domestically and internationally

Success Profile

  • Operates as a highly independent contributor while collaborating effectively with the broader HR team
  • Creates learning experiences that are engaging, practical, and immediately usable
  • Builds structured, repeatable programs out of ambiguous needs
  • Elevates events into memorable, high-impact culture moments
  • Balances creativity with strong execution and operational discipline

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
