POSITION SUMMARY:

The summer AI Engineer intern is a new and critical role that will drive AI adoption and innovation across the Private Equity strategy. This role will support Audax’s engineers in developing AI-driven pipelines, products and custom GPTs. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning, NLP, and AI infrastructure, combined with the ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical stakeholders.           

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and conduct training sessions on ChatGPT, prompt engineering, and AI applications tailored to different business functions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams to design, develop, and deploy AI models, pipelines, and automation workflows that optimize internal processes and investment analysis.
  • Work hands-on with AI infrastructure, ensuring that AI applications are scalable, secure, and well-integrated with existing data systems.
  • Develop and optimize AI/ML pipelines, including data collection, preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Design and implement agentic AI workflows where AI models can autonomously make decisions, retrieve external information, and execute multi-step tasks.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of NLP, LLMs, and generative AI applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders

TECHNOLOGY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Experience working with LangChain, AutoGen, OpenAI Function Calling, and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) to build AI agents that interact with APIs, databases, and user queries.Hands-on experience with AI model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and deploying LLM-powered applications.
  • Experience with enterprise AI integration, working with tools like Snowflake, Databricks, or other data platforms to power AI-driven insights.

Location: Boston, MA. This position is in the office 3 days/week. These in-office requirements may be adjusted based on the needs of the business.

Date: June 8, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Salary Range: $28-$32 / hourly
