We exist for workers and their employers -- who are the backbone of our economy.  That is where Centivo comes in -- our mission is to bring affordable, high-quality healthcare to the millions who struggle to pay their healthcare bills.

Summary of role:

Reporting into the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, the Strategy and Operations Director will play a key role in the structuring and execution of enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and operational excellence. At Centivo, the Strategy & Operations Director will be responsible for fully owning and executing end-to-end strategic initiatives across complex and cross-functional problems. This individual will use their strong business acumen and cross-functional leadership skills to help translate strategy into execution to deliver measurable impact.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead strategic initiatives from ideation through execution, including growth strategies, operational improvements and organizational transformation.

  • Partner with executive and senior leadership to define business priorities, develop strategic roadmaps, and align cross-functional teams.

  • Drive execution of strategic initiatives end-to-end by leading cross-functional teams, tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring accountability across stakeholders.

  • Translate insights into action by designing and implementing scalable processes, performance metrics, and change management plans.

  • Drive operational rigor through KPI development, business reviews, and continuous improvement frameworks.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, and other departments to develop forecasts, cost-benefit analyses, and resource allocation models for strategic initiatives.

  • Support executive decision-making with high-quality presentations, dashboards, and business cases.

  • Own post-initiative impact tracking by developing success criteria, reporting frameworks, and lessons-learned reviews to drive continuous improvement.

  • Monitor industry trends and internal performance data to proactively identify gaps, inefficiencies, and innovation opportunities.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects

  • Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of financial, operational, and strategic levers

  • Excellent communication and executive presence; able to distill complex ideas into clear, actionable insights

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced environments

  • Experience with data tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau) and familiarity with doing analyses

  • Ability to conduct process mapping and optimization of inefficient processes

Education and Experience:

  • 2 years of management consulting experience within a consulting firm or a similar role with exposure to strategy, operations or transformation work

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Prior work experience in corporate strategy, business operations or business transformation a plus

  • Prior work experience in industry, with a preference for industry experience in a healthcare setting

Leadership Skills:

  • Business Acumen – A keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with a business situation (risks and opportunities) in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome. Critical to this is an ability to think beyond their own function.

  • Accountability & Execution – Taking ownership of actions, following through on commitments, actively carrying out tasks, monitoring progress, delivering results as promised, and being answerable for positive and negative outcomes.

  • Strategist Mindset - The ability see and articulate the bigger picture, thinking proactively and anticipating both opportunities and obstacles in the context of setting direction and maintain alignment to long-term company goals.

  • Systems Thinking – The ability to see and articulate the patterns, interconnections and interdependencies within a system

  • Process Orientation – The ability to see and articulate the sequential flow of activities, including anticipating impacts upstream and downstream when processes are changed.

  • Flexibility/Working through Ambiguity – Tendency to be energized by new experiences/perspectives, working with both data and fragmented information to arrive at practical, effective, actionable next steps.

Centivo Values:

  • Resilient – This is wicked hard. There is no easy button for healthcare affordability. Luckily, the mission makes it worth it and sustains us when things are tough. Being resilient ensures we don’t give up.

  • Uncommon - The status quo stinks so we had to go out and build something better. We know the healthcare system. It isn't working for members, employers, and providers. So we're building it from scratch, from the ground up. Our focus is on making things better for them while also improving clinical results - which is bold and uncommon.

  • Positive – We care about each other. It takes energy to do hard stuff, build something better and to be resilient and unconventional while doing it. Because of that, we make sure we give kudos freely and feedback with care. When our tank gets low, a team member is there to be a source of new energy. We celebrate together. We are supportive, generous, humble, and positive.

Work Location:

  • This position is remote eligible

  • Office locations in Buffalo and NYC

Compensation:

  • Tier 1: $175,000 - $200,00 - MBA and 3 years' experience working in top ranked consulting firm such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc. required

  • Tier 2: $150,000 - $175,000 - Bachelor's degree and 2 years' experience working in a consulting firm required

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
