The Strategic Sourcing Manager will manage the full lifecycle of strategic sourcing events, lead contract negotiations, and drive cost optimization for a client in the quick service restaurant industry.
About Us:
CompassX is a boutique business and technology consulting firm. We help Fortune 500 and high-growth clients deliver their most strategic initiatives, from enterprise transformations to digital and data-driven projects.
With over 15 years of proven results, we’ve expanded across industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, consumer products, and quick service restaurants. We are honored to be recognized as a three-time winner of Consulting Magazine’s Best Boutique Firms to Work For, and previously recognized as a “Best Place to Work” in Southern California and one of INC.’s 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to dive into a high-impact, 6 month contract assignment supporting our client, a global leader in the quick service restaurant industry. This is not a "maintenance" role—you will be the engine behind critical renewals and RFPs, driving cost optimization and working capital improvements in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Execute strategic sourcing events within the technology subcategory, managing the full lifecycle from RFP development to final contract execution.
- Lead rigorous contract negotiations with vendors and internal stakeholders to secure optimal business terms, pricing, and service level agreements.
- Partner with Legal and Finance teams to finalize supplier contracts, ensuring all agreements align with procurement objectives and standardized policies.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis of supplier capabilities, risk profiles, and financial positioning to inform sourcing strategies.
- Drive cost optimization and performance management, facilitating ongoing business reviews to ensure suppliers meet their contracted obligations.
- Engage and influence senior leadership regarding the strategic value of the procurement function and the benefits of specific sourcing initiatives.
- Maintain global awareness of macro-economic factors, proactively developing alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate negative impacts on purchasing operations.
- Collaborate across workstreams to ensure the technology subcategory strategy is integrated with broader business goals.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of business experience with at least 3 years dedicated to supply chain or procurement functions, ideally within retail, service, multi-outlet food and beverage industries.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to quantify and document sourcing results and financial impact.
- Advanced negotiation skills, capable of managing high-stakes discussions with strategic vendors and executive-level stakeholders.
- Proven track record of execution, demonstrating the ability to jump into active projects and deliver results with minimal oversight.
- Tertiary degree qualification in a business-related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a "consultative" mindset focused on building team environments and lasting stakeholder relationships.
- High work ethic and adaptability, comfortable navigating the nimble and flexible environment of a boutique consulting firm.
