Job Description
About the role:
The Strategic Planning and Operations, Senior Manager is responsible for identifying internal and external strategic issues and opportunities that could affect the organization's growth and profitability. By evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, this role contributes to Takeda's mission of bringing better health to people and a brighter future to the world. You will report to Head of Global Medical Business Excellence.
How you will contribute:
  • Identify growth opportunities and business model innovations
  • Facilitate cross-business unit initiatives to enhance collaboration* Perform complex financial modeling for potential strategic investments

  • As an expert professional within the organization, you develop innovative solutions to complex problems aligned with organizational objectives. Your work involves addressing intricate issues, requiring in-depth analysis and judgment. You also engage with key contacts outside your expertise area and contribute to the development of new concepts and standards. Operating with considerable autonomy, you serve as a consultant to management and an external spokesperson on major matters, often working independently and leading function teams or projects. Additionally, you play a role in training and mentoring junior staff.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD, etc.) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic initiatives, communications, consulting, or related roles within healthcare, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; experience drafting executive-level content is essential.
  • Proven experience creating presentations for senior executives, using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Thinkcell, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize technical or operational data into clear narratives.
  • Adept at stakeholder management and building relationships with senior leaders and diverse teams.

Desired:
  • Solid understanding of the drug development process and lifecycle management
  • Experience working in a multinational setting with international affiliates
  • Proven track record of influencing throughout the matrix, leading through ambiguity, and working diplomatically through conflict.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Requires approximately 10% travel, including overnight and international travel to other Takeda sites and meetings with external partners.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. We are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.
For Location:
USA - MA - Cambridge - Kendall Square - 500
U.S. Base Salary Range:
$137,000.00 - $215,270.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
