As a Strategic Account Director – Financial Services, Capital Markets, you will serve as a trusted business advisor to one of Microsoft’s most strategic customers, helping shape the future of a complex, high-impact relationship. You will lead the account strategy, build trusted relationships with C-level executives, and connect customer priorities with Microsoft’s AI, cloud, and digital capabilities to drive meaningful business outcomes.
Working across customer executives, Microsoft technical specialists, customer success teams, and partners, you will orchestrate complex opportunities, navigate evolving business priorities, and identify new areas for growth. This role is designed for a strategic sales profesional who combines deep industry expertise, executive influence, commercial acumen, and complex solution selling to create long-term value for both the customer and Microsoft.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute multi-year account strategies that drive revenue growth, expand opportunities, and strengthen customer and partner relationships. Orchestrate internal and partner teams to deliver against account priorities, goals, budgets, and forecasts.
Customer & Executive EngagementBuild trusted relationships with C-level executives and key decision makers. Develop a deep understanding of customer priorities, anticipate business needs, and connect Microsoft capabilities to long-term customer strategy and outcomes.
Sales & Competitive ExcellenceLeverage industry, competitive, and Microsoft solution expertise to identify strategic opportunities, differentiate Microsoft, and deliver compelling business value. Remove blockers, manage customer satisfaction risks, and drive opportunities across the broader partner ecosystem.
Strategic LeadershipBring industry insights and innovative thinking to help customers solve complex business challenges and evolve their business models. Mobilize Microsoft and partner stakeholders to influence decisions, expand relationships, and create long-term competitive advantage.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR Master's Degree AND 9+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR 13+ years experience in working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years experience making recommendations to and/or collaborating with mid-to-senior level executives.
- 8+ years experience closing large, complex agreements/deals.

- Bachelor's Degree AND 13+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR Master's Degree AND 11+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR equivalent experience.
- Proven enterprise technology sales experience supporting large strategic accounts in the financial services industry.
- Track record of measurable business impact, including revenue growth, account expansion, or other quantifiable sales achievements.
- Cross-functional leadership skills with experience coordinating specialists, customer success resources, and other stakeholders in support of a major customer relationship.
Strategic Account Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
