Job Description:
The Boston Conservatory at Berklee (BCB) is seeking a skilled, organized, and collaborative Stage Manager to join its Performance Services team. This role is ideal for a production professional who thrives in a creative, student-centered environment. The expected start date is August 2026.
Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, the Stage Manager serves as the Production Stage Manager (PSM) for assigned productions—including plays, musicals, operas, and dance performances—and as Manager on Duty for designated projects. They will lead staff and student assistant stage managers, support rehearsals and performances, maintain production documentation, and coordinate logistics to ensure smooth execution of all BCB productions.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage rehearsals, runs-of-show, and post-production activities.
Supervise, train, and mentor staff and student assistant stage managers.
Attend production meetings and share updates with relevant stakeholders.
Maintain prompt books, schedules, cue sheets, and other production documentation.
Coordinate rehearsal spaces, props, and technical resources.
Support additional events, including summer programs and orientation activities.
Qualifications:
B.A. in Theater or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of professional stage management experience in theater, dance, or opera.
Experience working with and mentoring students in higher education.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to read or follow scores for musicals and/or operas.
Familiarity with FileMaker Pro is a plus.
This role requires some evenings and weekends. The Stage Manager will work in a variety of environments, including stages, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, and offices, with occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs) and climbing short ladders.
