Summary

Elevance Health is building a modern enterprise execution engine that translates strategy into measurable outcomes faster, more predictably, and with disciplined risk management. This role leads the Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) and the broader enterprise technology execution capability as a transformation operator: establishing the operating model, portfolio discipline, execution governance, and leadership cadence required to scale AI, automation, data, platform, and enterprise technology initiatives without adding bureaucracy.

In a matrixed environment where delivery is distributed across business and technology teams, this leader creates enterprise-level visibility, decision cadence, executive communication, and accountability so investments translate into outcomes and leaders can make faster tradeoffs with confidence.

This is not a traditional PMO role. It is a modern execution leadership role requiring:

  • strong technical fluency

  • AI and platform execution credibility

  • high-level investment and portfolio discipline

  • exceptional executive communication

  • the ability to build CEO-, CIO-, and Board-ready materials that translate complex delivery realities into clear business decisions.

Team Scope

7 direct reports / 25+ total FTE's

Position Responsibilities

1) Enterprise Portfolio Leadership & Investment Discipline

  • Translate enterprise technology and business strategies into an actionable portfolio with clear priorities, sequencing, outcomes, and visible tradeoffs

  • Lead SPO and establish one portfolio operating rhythm across AI, data, platforms, cyber, enterprise tech, and transformation work

  • Drive consistent portfolio governance across federated delivery teams; ensure work is prioritized, resourced, sequenced, and measured against enterprise outcomes

  • Provide transparent views of investment, spend, delivery health, risks, milestones, and expected value realization

  • Help leaders focus on the highest-value initiatives and make informed decisions on pivot, pause, accelerate, or stop

2) AI / Automation Execution Enablement

  • Establish execution patterns for AI and automation programs that include outcome gates, adoption readiness, model and change risk management, and production proof points

  • Partner with engineering, architecture, security, data, and business leaders to ensure AI and automation work is feasible, scalable, governed, and operationally ready

  • Engage credibly with external technical partners, including strategic AI and platform providers

  • Ensure AI initiatives move beyond POCs into repeatable production capabilities with measurable business impact

3) Operating Model, Governance, and Delivery Excellence

  • Build and run an enterprise operating model that balances execution discipline with agility in a federated environment

  • Standardize planning, milestone management, dependency management, risk/issue/decision management, and portfolio reporting

  • Improve intake, governance, review readiness, and execution handoffs across teams

  • Reduce noise, manual coordination, and fragmented reporting through standardization and smarter tooling

  • Create the standards and operating expectations that turn PMs and program leaders into enterprise operators

4) Transparency, Executive Reporting & Performance Management

  • Build executive-grade dashboards and performance views that show portfolio health, delivery predictability, and value realization

  • Produce clear, high-quality materials for senior leadership, CEO reviews, Board updates, and strategic decision forums

  • Translate complex portfolio realities into concise narratives, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations

  • Drive a decision-support model that helps leaders intervene early, reallocate capacity, and protect enterprise commitments

  • Ensure portfolio materials are insight-driven, action-oriented, and appropriate for executive and Board audiences

5) Value Realization, Adoption, and Accountability

  • Ensure each major initiative has clear adoption ownership, business outcomes, and value realization metrics

  • Connect business cases to execution plans and measurable enterprise outcomes

  • Improve visibility into whether delivered capabilities are creating the intended operational, financial, or experience impact

  • Drive recovery of at-risk initiatives and hold teams accountable for path-to-green actions

  • Track performance against approved business cases and value targets

6) Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and grow SPO leaders, PMs, and execution leads into enterprise operators

  • Build a modern execution capability defined by technical fluency, AI-enabled productivity, and strong business judgment
