Since going to market, we have gained a diverse group of enterprise customers, including some of the biggest law firms in the country, and we are quickly expanding. By reducing the expense of litigation industry-wide, we aim to improve access to high-quality representation and promote the alignment of legal outcomes with merit. 


We’re looking for a Staff Engineer who will be a key member of a new Systems team at Syllo that will own Platforms, Frameworks, Tools, Patterns, and Architecture. This person will not only contribute directly to technical design and implementation but also foster a collaborative, high-performing environment where engineers can grow, learn, and thrive.


Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to members of the Platforms team, supporting their professional growth and helping them achieve their potential.
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-based infrastructure using Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and integrate AI technologies to remove performance bottlenecks. 
  • Refactor existing systems to enhance scalability, including transforming stateful components into stateless ones, and applying extensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms. 
  • Lead efforts on data ingestion and export processes, improving efficiency and reducing dependencies on legacy technologies. 
  • Drive platform reliability initiatives, including enhancing alerting, health checking, and incident management. 
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts, including cost control measures and technological upgrades. 
  • Oversee the development of internal tools that streamline workflows and reduce duplication of effort in development environments. 
  • Ensure the platform meets rigorous testing and security standards to maintain data integrity and security. 
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure meeting SLA

Qualifications 

  • Core software engineering skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python and Ruby. 
  • Strong system administration experience, including fluency with Linux, networking, and bash scripting. 
  • Proficiency with GCP.
  • Proficiency with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform.
  • Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure. 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Experience addressing scaling challenges and resource contention in distributed systems.
  • Engagement with the open-source community, including tool research, bug reporting, and code contribution. 
  • Expertise in cloud data security

Salary Range ($190- $230K) plus health insurance and equity.

$190,000$230,000 USD
