We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the evolution of DigitalOcean’s Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) )offerings. In this role, you’ll shape the future of developer experience on DO by building offerings like AI-friendly Databases and enabling enterprise scale, security, durability and much more - helping startups, SMBs and Enterprises go from code to scale with minimal friction.

As Principal PM, you’ll drive product vision, strategy, execution and customer success for relational and non-relational database areas, collaborating with engineering, design, and marketing teams. You’ll bring a deep understanding of cloud-native databases, strong customer empathy, and a track record of delivering successful products. You will report to the Director of Product Management, and play a key role in shaping how customers build and deploy modern apps on DigitalOcean.

What You’ll Do:
  • Define the strategy and roadmap for DigitalOcean’s Databases offerings.
  • Work closely with engineering and design to deliver performant, reliable, and delightful experiences.
  • Partner with developer relations, marketing, and sales to drive awareness, adoption, and retention.
  • Conduct deep customer research and usability testing to inform prioritization and validate solutions.
  • Track competitive trends in the PaaS and serverless space to identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • Collaborate with internal platform and infrastructure teams to ensure services are scalable and cost-efficient.

  • Application performance and deployment reliability
  • Revenue and usage growth
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • 10+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years focused on databases.
  • Fluency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, others), no-sql (MongoDB, Linux foundation DocDB etc), vector databases and AI initiatives in databases.
  • Strong technical understanding and collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Experience owning full product lifecycles—from strategy and ideation to launch and iteration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of cross-functional influence.
  • Bonus points for experience in developer-first SaaS companies or contributing to open-source platforms.
Compensation Range: 
  • $211,200 - $264,000

You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
