About Onebrief

Onebrief is collaboration and AI-powered workflow software designed specifically for military staffs. By transforming this work, Onebrief makes the staff as a whole superhuman - meaning faster, smarter, and more efficient.

We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and camaraderie of an Olympic team. Onebrief operates as an all-remote company, though many of our employees work alongside our customers at military commands around the world.

Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief’s team spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software companies. We’ve raised $320m+ from top-tier investors, including Battery Ventures, General Catalyst, Sapphire Ventures, Insight Partners, and Human Capital, and today, Onebrief is valued at $2.15B. With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.

About the Role

We're hiring a Staff Product Designer to join our Design Team. You'll report to our Head of Product Design, Ario Jafarzadeh.

Our team is highly specialized, and the core skillset for this role is a deep-thinker who understands complex systems and workflows. You will work across our squads, rotating fluidly across geospatial, ICAM, and other areas, using a product perspective to create a seamless user experience.

About You

Curious, creative, and collaborative, your focus on user experience shapes an intuitive aesthetic. You play with the latest tooling, form “strong opinions loosely held,” and have discerning personal taste - and you can articulate its value to end users.

You have worked on projects involving aspects of creative support, data visualization, or modern collaboration where innovative design was vital to their success.

You understand that while AI is changing the world (as will whatever comes next), the fundamentals of design are still just that - fundamental. Style matters, but it complements substance, it cannot replace it. You wince anytime you see bad kerning.

You have a low ego, high EQ, and higher ethics. You’re a lifelong learner, driven by the endless pursuit of mastering your craft to support your users.

What You’ll Do

As a product designer at Onebrief, your job will be to solve complex military planning problems and help develop a seamless, end-to-end planning tool.

You will have the opportunity to travel and partner with military planners from around the world, empathize with their needs, and translate those into design solutions. You will have the support of a team of engineers, product managers, and designers. Your work will span across UX, UI, and user research and will cover all facets of the product, from defining ground-up new features to shaping our design system.

Most importantly, you'll work as a true partner to our product managers and founders, with plenty of flexibility to reshape your role over time as needed for yours and our company's success.

What We Look For
  • You can discover what users truly need even when they don't understand it themselves

  • You work well with Customer Relations, Engineering, Product, and other colleagues

  • You have an “owner’s mentality” and are comfortable sharing your ideas and perspective with the C-suite, and you take accountability when they reflect in the real-world

  • Most importantly:

    • You are collaborative, work iteratively, and are scrappy and solutions-oriented

    • You have an understanding of or interest in the military and defense tech space

    • You actively experiment with the latest tools: Figma Make, Claude, Codex

    • You thrive as a self-starter, embracing autonomy and ambiguity

    • You are a U.S. citizen

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
