The Global Procurement team partners across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier ecosystems to ensure scalable, cost-effective, and resilient sourcing strategies that support Micron's technology roadmap and manufacturing excellence.
Position Overview:
As a Principal Category Manager for Capital Equipment, you will lead global sourcing strategy and supplier engagement for key semiconductor equipment categories such as Etch, Deposition, CMP, Wet Process, Implant, Photo, and Metrology. You will act as a strategic partner to engineering and operations teams, driving long-term cost, performance, and supply continuity outcomes. This role requires strong commercial leadership, deep market expertise, and the ability to influence executive team members and suppliers to deliver measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
  • Define and lead global category strategies for capital equipment, including supplier selection, sourcing models, and long-term roadmap alignment.
  • Conduct market intelligence analysis, including supplier capability mapping, technology trends, pricing models, and cost curves.
  • Lead executive-level supplier engagement, including strategic reviews, performance management, and escalation handling.
  • Negotiate complex, multi-year global agreements covering pricing, capacity, service, and lifecycle costs.
  • Apply total cost of ownership (TCO), should-cost models, and benchmarking to drive cost savings and value creation.
  • Partner with Technology Development, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to align sourcing strategies with business priorities.
  • Drive supply base optimization, including dual sourcing strategies to reduce risk and improve resilience.
  • Mentor and guide team members while leading high-impact global initiatives as a senior individual contributor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years Experience in capital equipment procurement, category management, or semiconductor engineering.
  • Proven experience leading global sourcing strategies and complex supplier negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into business decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing partners across global organizations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment procurement or category leadership.
  • Deep expertise in capital equipment markets, supplier behavior, and cost structures.
  • Demonstrated success leading executive-level supplier relationships and negotiations.
  • Strong executive presence with experience engaging senior leadership (VP/SVP/CEO level).
  • Track record of delivering multi-year cost savings, supply continuity, and strategic sourcing outcomes.
  • Good understanding of Agentic AI or willingness to learn Agentic AI to help developed efficient workflow.
